Here Kitty, Kitty

I said I would show more of the peek from yesterday but before I do like to tell you how I decided I just had to have a few more Kitties On Facebook a couple weeks ago someone had posted this picture and it was love at first sight. I went in search of items. Instead of real pumpkin I went ahead and bought one of those fake pumpkin you can carve and little foam ones too.  Didn't find enough ribbon I liked so I made one of my own using fabric. Found some small pumpkins at dollar tree but they were not all plain, had words and stripes on some so I went and painted over that stuff to make them just plain. This white one had stripes. Instead of hot gluing on the ears I just cut slits and inserted the ears. Had animals eyes so used those instead of black thumbtacks but did have to purchase some black wire for whiskers. In the direction it said to use florist foam but didn't know that, I just stuff the pumpkin with shredded paper an

My Week

It has been quite the week, the man of the place was home Monday and Tuesday  Our anniversary was Tuesday and we were able to get away for a day.  We went to Pawhuska, Oklahoma to Ree Drumond's Mercantile store. I had been there back in the spring but he hadn't  It was warm that day so it was perfect for a drive.  It is about 2 hours from our home and for the most part a nice drive. He said that it was diffidently a woman place, seeing how 95% of people there were women. While there her husband Ladd aka Marlboro man was greeting and getting pictures made with customers he is very friendly and just as cute as his photos she posts.  Picked up a couple gifts and fun things and had dinner at the restaurant  Wednesday took mom to get a PET scan and Thursday I had my annual dermatology visit, good for another year. Friday I was back in Tulsa to get a hair cut and run errands  You can guest not much sewing has been going on, mainly all piecework.

Slow Sunday

It has been so nice today, morning temps in the fifties and a sunny fall day. Started my day with a 3.5 mile bike ride....which felt great. Later I put a turkey in the oven to slow cook, the "man of the place" ask if I could make a turkey with some the of fix'en, said he has been craving this for a month now. I know Thanksgiving is just a little over a month away but I couldn't convince them to wait.    I do have to say it was very tasty and we will have plenty of leftover since it's just two of us. This evening I will spend time sewing the binding on the William Morris. I enjoy sewing down binding, find it relaxing. Earlier today I did finish my daughter slippers and they turned good but I personally like the other pattern I made a couple weeks ago. Now I'm wanting to Spicier Life CAL Hope all is well for you.  Linking up with Kathy's Quilt

October Goal

I haven't done a one month goal in quite a while and I'm a person who likes goals, gives me something to keep me on track and there are times I need that. So this month I pledge to be the month I finally finish the Retro Air-Ship Propeller top. Now I would love to say that it will quilted and bound but I know my limitations and it is not going to happen. But that is okay... each step is a step closer to being completed. To think I started this a little over a year ago, September 2016 to be exact with Karen at Quilt Etc . and Deb at Frugal Little Bungalow  I believe Karen is done with her and Deb is like me, still working on her's. So that is it.... Octobers One Month Goal and linking up at Elm Street

My Simple Woman Daybook for October

For Today Looking out my window I see the beginning of the leaves turning colors and the absents of hummingbirds. Will need to take down the feeder and clean to store till next year. I am thinking about what I need to finish for Christmas. I have some quilts and other projects started that just have a little something to have them ready. I am thankful (one word) FAMILY One of my favorite things I am creating slippers for gifts. Found this really cool pattern for crochet slippers that have a knitted look. I am wearing grey yoga pant and white and grey striped woven shirt. Really thought it was going to be a little cooler today when I dressed this morning. I just wishing it was I guess, so I was a little warm today. I am reading I am hoping To be by the end of the month, cycling 6 miles at a time. Right now it's 3 miles....4x's a week I am learning about more on the country, foods, traditions and culture of

Making Progress

It was another day of taking my mom to a doctor appointment and her test came out just fine, thank god. While waiting I was able to finish one slipper to the pair. And seeing how I will be driving mom to her HCE meeting tomorrow I'll be able to get the other one started. While in Tulsa she was up to going to Hobby Lobby because she needed something so while there I looked for some yarn to go with the CAL. Found a couple I think will work. Do need to find a soft peachy color and a copper like one. This evening was able to get a little sewing in. Yesterday I had trimmed the Michelle Hill's BOM from a few years back, to get ready for the binding. I did not quilt this myself, Pam at Sager Creek did. She does a beautiful job, love the cross-hatch and outlined the applique. So this is one of things I was able to do, still need to finish it off by hand. antique thimble holder
