Countdown to Christmas

todays day 2 I meant to write yesterday but the end of my day did not go like normal. I did well until dinner time and for some unknown reasons I felt like crap. It lasted for a couple hours, then I was better. Chemo I guess. Day 1 Was able to get the first video up for vlogmas but not a word on the blog. Day 2 is up now and just thought I would share that. I made some muffins tonight and I will post here where to find the recipe, its at Food.com and it's called six week Raisin Bran muffins. This is going to be short cause it's late and I need to go early tomorrow for chemo treatment #2  Till tomorrow Kat

A New Video

Hi there, I’m still here and with a story to tell. So instead of trying to write it all down, I just made a video. I tell about my now new challenge, and how I want to share my journey.  Which includes trying to continue keeping life as normal as possible and that means being creative. Added at the end of the video a couple of projects that I would like to complete.  A goal to shoot for.. I’ll be back tomorrow with more on this topic Thank you so much for sticking with me. It means so much. Till tomorrow  Kat

Yay it’s done

So glad I’m done putting these together. Can’t say I’ve enjoyed working on this project and still need to quilt and bind but really didn’t feel like doing that this afternoon.  Had enough for now, especially after I realized the mistake made and didn’t see it till after one was all completed.  Maybe you can spot it, they was no way I was going to rip out the block and move it.  Maybe my daughter won’t notice   Going to use the fabric that was used for the bow ties, for the backing   Have another finish.  Started this pair a few months ago, these were July’s free sock pattern. Which you can find on the blog Caisbod. Very cute socks but I will not make again Used Red Heart sock yarn I had in my stash.  The reason why I didn’t get to quilting the table runners was I just couldn’t stand my dirty windows  Now my window in the dining room is where a lot of my plants are. And it is quite the chore, have to move them. As you can see needed to find ...

Halloween in the works

I said I would show more of the items I have up for fall/Halloween. I’ll be honest that this wall hanging is not quite finished. I had purchased this for a class on learning how to quilt on my domestic sewing machine.  Now I’m not sure if any of you are familiar with this panel but it’s called Pumpkin Boy by Thimbleberry, that was part of a collection of reproduce magazine covers from the 1920’ and 30’s.  I know that it was available in 2007 but I’m not sure if it was then or 2008 that the class was offered.  I have the center part done and still need to the finish up all the outer squares. Originally it was to be worked up to a lap size quilt but I’m just leaving it panel size 36 x 44 I have a spot picked out in the entryway. I’ve also been working on the table runners  I am so ready to be done with this and I’m far from it. I don’t know what the problem is but it has been a pain in the $&#.  It seems to be taking me forever to finish.   Is...

Fall is in the air.

T his is my favorite time of year, I could just go on and on about what I love about Autumn.  Beside the cooler temps and the colors of the season, it’s the way the sunlight present such beauty to everything.  Just makes me feel so contented and relaxed.   And wanting some comfort food like beef stew. This weekend I spent some time decorating the house. I will show you all of what I did but I think I’ll  do it segments. That way I can tell you about what I used, how you can make it yourself or duplicate and just get to tell you so much more.  This is the first piece I want to show.  Made this 3 years ago for a gathering for NW Arkansas quilt guilds in Roger, Arkansas. Originally saw this online and just had to make it. Really... nothing is cuter than a pumpkin full of kitties.  Poor little black one looks scared to death .... LOL I wrote a blog post here on how I went about recreating this. I believe I also mention that I eventually found instr...

Time for change

As you can see,  things have changed.  Why not... everything else seems to of this year. I had been thinking about changing the looks to my blog for some time now and thought I would just wait until the 10th anniversary, which is not until June of 2021. But you know what, there is no good reason to wait. I wanted to clean up the look and so now I’m in the progress of learning what I can do with this layout. All the information that was on the side are accessible through the menu bars at the top right now.  I’m playing around with that. How exciting...... Now I need your advice, I going to be making these socks and want you to help me decided which yarn to use.  The black is the main color and then then need to know what you think will look the best for all moons and light color pattern  The beige or orange  I’m going for a Halloween like theme.  I’m in love with moons and it’s so cool she has all the phases incorporated in the pattern.  Fou...

Some Happy Talk.

After dumping my troubles it’s time for some fun and happy stuff.   I promised to show you some of what I’ve been working on this past month.  In my last video I had shown some quilting projects I wanted to get done before Halloween.  I did finished the top Tape Measure.  I really like how it turned out. I plan on quilting it myself on the machine.  And right now I’m working on the table runners for my daughters. They were here to help me after the surgery and I was thinking I would work on them while they were here but that didn’t happen.  This is what I have completed so far.   I was working on the star blocks and found the the directions are incorrect and had to fudge some.  The other project was a test knit I did. The socks turned out so cute.  The pattern is called Louie and Prim Cat Socks by razzafrogie.  You can get the pattern on Ravelry, it’s a paid pattern. It was an easy pattern and the cat and paws are stitched on after you f...

What’s Up these days, challenges

Again life has taken an odd turn and this year for so many of us it hasn’t been for the better. We all have had to change so much of our lives dealing with COVID-19. Many countries are doing fair, a lot better than here in the US.  And I understand everyone is so tired of this all but I’m afraid we have a way to go before it’s better. Like so many we haven’t seen our grandsons since February.  I know my lost and challenges are not as bad as others but is better  compared to some. Beside being home bound, we lost our pet after many years. Lost my step mother to cancer in the beginning of this year and was hoping to take dad out to travel some to help with his grief but that never happened.  And for some time I was having issues, health issues and was putting it off because of dealing with what my step mother needed. I then waited a few months after her death because of the virus before being comfortable going to the doctor. Well after some tests she found polyp...

Have a new video ready

Finally I have another video made. This time I'm sharing some FO's, Wip's and future plans. I was able to get one of moms quilts finished. She was getting pretty weak and was hard to focus so I needed do some redoing on this top which took me a little time. Plus I just didn't have my heart into it. But I do need to get them done.  Have 2 left to do and would like to get them finished before Christmas so the girls could have them as gifts from her. Then I did get a top made for me that was originally for my daughter. Do have another one cut out but debating whether I want to finish it. There are other patterns I have cut out and ready to sew and would rather spend my time on them.  Here are links to the Granny Shawlette Helen Steward's Pebble Beach Shawl Crabapple Hill pattern for the Halloween Journey Plans for this month This one I would love to get to but the other...
