Playing Catch Up

Since I was gone the month of May, that put me behind a month on making my circles for the boys I spy quilts.

I was able to get done 41 of them this month (June) but still put me a little behind.

Here's a closer look and I'm not sure what my total count is because I haven't counted them in a couple months.

Seeing how I'm making two quilts I just keep on making circles knowing that I need lots and lots and lots of circles.

I have this pile here of such cute novelty prints to make circles out of, which keeps my enthusiasm going. I'm not sure if I will have to keep this up until November or if I can have enough circles made before that and start my quilt tops.

Now this month colors for the RSC over at so scrappy is pink or as she put that hot pink and some lime. This will be great colors for another baby quilt.

I believe I will do it in 30's reproduction prints see'n how I have lots of those. Pink and green are very popular color way in 30's. I haven't came up with a pattern yet but what I'm going to do is try various ways of making half square triangles.

Being that the "words to live by" quilt that I'm in the process of making requires 672 HST.
In the pattern that I have uses a half square triangle paper that I do not have. So I've been online investigating other methods for making a large quantity of half square triangles at one time. I will be doing these different techniques and will be posting the results of my experiment.
That is while watching the Outlanders marathon they are showing today in anticipation of the season finale tonight
I'll be using the pink and green fabric so once I'm done I can go ahead and use those HST into this month RSC.
My plan is to do that today and have that posted this evening I'll also put a link on this post to the upcoming post that I'll have just in case you want to come back and check
Linking this up over with Audrey at quilty folk

How to Make a Portable Design Wall

I had wanted to get a portable design wall to take to retreats but did not want to pay the price. Looked at various pins on pinterest and took ideas from more than one to come up with my verison. It worked out great and only cost a fraction of the price. The PVC pipes, joints and 2 yards of felt cost under $22.00 My design wall is 4' x 4' which stands approximately 5 1/5' tall. For this size need 2 - 10ft length of 3/4" PVC pipe for the frame and 4ft of 1" PVC pipe for the feet Cut the 3/4" PVC into 4 - 4' section                                                                                       2 - 1' section              Cut the 1"  PVC into 4 - 1' section        ...

Yarn Along 2/20/13 Spoon Pin Doily

It's snowing here and I know some of you are tired of snow but here we will take the moisture any way we can get it. Plus it just gives me a reason to stay in and work on some of my projects. In this picture I'm not sure if you can make it out but in the background there are some wild turkeys that hang around the house sometime, just  chilling This project I'm working on is Spool Pin Doilies.   I had never heard of them before until Bonnie Hunter had mentioned it on her blog . She a had a viewer send her one for her sewing machine along with a pattern. I did not like the pattern but loved the idea so I decided to make up my own version. I wanted a more simple, smaller and fuller doily. So I tried different thread sizes to get one that I like. (From left to right) I tried sock yarn, which I'll redo because I think I like that look. Heavy weight crochet thread, nope too big Bamboo yarn, I like it. Looks good on my Kenmore. Pearl c...
