Bye Bye May

I know I have said it before and that is how fast time seems be rushing past me. Here it is the end of May and the first time since the "Little Dudes" have been born that I had missed their birthday. They turned 5 and growing so fast. They will be here for a visit the end of June and will stay for 3 weeks. That will be here before you know it. Even though time is quickly passing, I seem to be so slow at doing things and I thought I would be done with the flag quilt today. But I was able to have all the units made now. It took a little figuring out. Added a piece to a corner of the background fabric. I could not tell from the photo how it was constructed so I needed guess and measure. I think I have it figured out. Right now it a square shape that I added the corner piece to and gives it a zigzag edge but I plan on to trimming off the points when it all together. Part of the reason it has taken a bit longer than I thought it would take is

Some Sewing Time

Other than cleaning and yard work I finally was able to get in some sewing time this week and worked on the Retro Air-Ship Propeller blocks. Have 42 blocks completed, well sort of completed, I'm appliqueing the center circles on now. Have enough blocks to set on point like the pattern Steampunk by Jen Kingwell. These are just part of the 42, didn't feel like putting them all up on the wall. Being lazy   Or plenty of blocks to do straight rows and add a border. Like in this book of 1930's quilts. Haven't decided which one, can you help me decided. I would greatly appreciate another opinion.

So little progress

I can't believe again it's been already a couple weeks since I last posted something. Feels like a heck of a lot longer if you ask me. I've been preoccupied lately dealing with my mom's health issues and will be for sometime in the future. I'm afraid my posts might become sporadic, not saying that they already are. Just a warning that way you have a heads up, so please don't give up on me. My blog is my refuge and something that I'm going to use in need. Well with that said, I haven't been able to get something completed these past couple weeks. I have been working on things.  Oh I'll take that back, yes I did complete at a baby blanket that I was crocheting. I take that along with me to doctor visits when I go with my mom.   In fact I started a new one with some yarn that my mom had in her stash to add to mine. So while we're in Houston, I will be working on that plus I'll take some embroidery work with me too. I

What's Up 4.3.17

Well here it is Monday and the  first part of April. And today I'm not just going to show what I am working on but also this month's OMG. So the WIP I picked is Retro Air-Ship Propeller quilt. Started this back in Sept last year and Karen and I said we would do a couple blocks a month until we had enough to make a top. Well the pressure is on to finish because Karen has finished her a few days ago.  Depending on how I set the blocks or how large I'l make it, will be the deciding factor on how many blocks I'll need. Right now I have 16, I could make as few as 4 or up to 25. Haven't decided yet. Now for what is going to up on the wall today is this month's Stash Buster. The pattern is a Timeless Treasures freebie called Arrow. Seeing how my goal is to use as much as I can of my stash.... this is to be  all stash,  BLUE STASH.  Which is what I do have... a large amount of blue fabric. I j

80's in February

Hard to believe it is  February with the temperatures in the 80's. Will be again tomorrow. Worked outside some but not as much as I should of been doing.  Today I had to wait for servicemen to come and check out the new dishwasher. It hadn't worked like it should so I called them to check on it. I thought it might of been off balance but actually it has a faulty door and control panel. Now I have to wait for another to replace it. Thank goodness I didn't have surgery. Yesterday I did make a few more Retro Air-Ship Propeller blocks. Slowly I'm getting that one done. I don't remember how many I'll need but do know I have quite a few left to make. Check this out............... 14 eggs today, the girls are liking this warm weather. Today I started on the string quilt Made large and small pieces to cut out the 4 1/2" squares from. Now I do not use a foundation, just sew the strips together.  Now the strips are not s

What's Up 1.23.17

Been busy today but not much to show for it. Last night worked on the friendship blocks.  I'm down to 2 left, when I realize that I had not made one for myself. These blocks were given to me at the end of my term as President of a local quilt guild, so of course I hadn't made one. So I'll make mine and another for to say the guild and year. That will make 35 blocks altogether.  I put up on the wall the ones that are completed but some still need to be trimmed. The blocks are 9 1/2 unfinished. I'm not good at figuring out the finished size of the top so have no idea right now the size it will end up.  Not too big though. I was going to sew some of the Retro Air-Ship Propeller, had some paired up and ready.  But got side tracked with cooking, cleaning and planning next month's stash busters quilt. I know, you're thinking my goodness she has already shown two projects and she planning another.  Yes.....I'm crazy.

Friday Finishes

I have been busy but not at sewing the past week Was able to make a few blocks of the Retro Air-Ship Propeller. If you hadn't read all about earlier this month about how Karen and I are both making. You can see the post here about the pattern and how to get free copy or one to purchase. I can add here that after writing that post, Deb at Frugal Little Bungalow  decided she was going to join in the fun. I think that is wonderful and I think the more the merrier. Well started out with this block Now my thoughts were this was going to be a good pattern to use up some of the fat quarters and scraps. Which is what I'm going to do, Here are the two we decided we would make for the month. But if know anything about me I sometimes can just stop when I find a good idea.  This is a 1930's pattern and I do have a large collections of 30's reproduction fabric. Which was obvious when it came to moving it out of the sewing room. Came across a tub o

Having Productive Day

Yesterday was a very productive day for me and the installers had most of the kitchen floor in and today they are finishing it up. I am so pleased with how it looks. But it sounds like it will be next weekend before the whole project is completed, that's hardwood and carpet. Now I was able to do 2 quarter sections of the center portion of The Words to Live By and now I'm working on another. Yesterday I was able to complete the last 2 Farmer's Wife blocks. So tonight at the 30's Club meeting they'll have more blocks for me. You see I'm the tester, making sure there is enough fabric and that directions are correct which makes me few months ahead of the group. I plan on taking the I Spy quilts as Show and Tell tonight... can't think of anything else. The leader and ender I mentioned the other day and had no ideal what I was going to do.....well I do now. The other day while looking on Facebook I came across this post on
