What's up

Just put back up the nested churn dash block.   Just finished my Stash Buster quilt top which turned out pretty, especially seeing how I didn't have to go out and purchase one piece of fabric for this. I'm really loving how the Churn Dash block is turning out. Been wanting to make a yellow and gray quilt for quite a while now, and just thrills me to see how it's coming together. The pattern shows nine blocks with a sashing and border but I'm not quite sure if that's what  I'm going to use yet or not. Guess I'll just have to wait and see what fancy me. If you like this pattern go over to   quiltjane  for more info and how to get the pattern.

What's Up 6-9-14

I have been in a sewing slump for months now. I did finally get the "little dudes" minky blankets made before I left to spend time with them last month. Oh ya I did make a pair of pillowcases for them too. Mainly I've been knitting, cooking or gardening. But this past weekend I helped work at Sager Creek's booth at the Tulsa Quilt Show and I was hoping it would get my creative juices flowing. By george, I think its worked. I was reading others blog yesterday to see what others are up to, which I haven't done much of either and today I made another pair of pillowcases I started over a month ago. I know it isn't much but it is a start and we have to start somewhere. You know baby steps. But it's like riding a bike, you don't forget you just have get back on and pedal. The "little dudes" are into Cars, Planes and Thomas the train. They'll love these. I made them using the sausage roll method here Next is I want to

What's Up

It is unbelievable to me that I have only written 3 times this month.  I have been wanting to sew but just haven't had the time because of working in the veggie garden maintaining, harvesting and planting the fall crops. It has been a very good year in the garden and I have been harvesting a tremendous amount produce.  This is from last Saturday's harvest and I have picking like this 3 or 4 times a week this past month. Except for the acorn squash it varies in what I pick. The green beans are done producing which was a good year, a little over a 100 lbs. That also means I have been very busy getting it put up.  The major part is over for now so I hope to get busy working on one of the many projects I have started. So today I went into my sewing room to see what I could work on.  I haven't been in that room for nearly a month now and this is what I walked into What a mess!!! At least the plants are still alive.  I have pretty much just been dum

It's Monday and What's Up

Boy thank goodness there was something to watch yesterday because it took me around 5 hours to clean up 16 lbs of green beans to can today. I have had the first batch in the canner, 7 qts.  but every now and then this happens. Over time from use a jar will weaken and breaks. It was a clean break so the beans are not ruined with glass pieces so I'll not waste them and give those to the chickens. So to what I'll work on while waiting is what I was hoping to get done last night and that is to make the circle for my LE and applique them on. Then I have a binding I would like to put on my round robin christmas quilt. I plan on taking this with me tomorrow to the 30's Club at Sager Creek Quilt Shop to work on between groups. I just love how this quilt turned out. I am still waiting to receive pictures of all the participants quilts. I want to share them and how beautiful and different they turned out. But until then you just get to see

What's Up 7/15/13

I have to admit, nothing has changed on my wall this past week. But if you look around my sewing room you would've thought I had been very busy and have something to show for it. My room is very disorganize even when it's not messy. Just too much in a small room. I think this expresses it all. I have been prepping blocks (37) for my Pea Ridge Lily quilt. And I did applique the center on the compass and the background piece that will become the ring around the compass. I now need it make 1/4 circles (32) to go on the ring  This is a BOM at  Esther's Blog And the second month is here so once I get those circles appliqued on then I will get started on working on this part. I will change the colors though. I'm going scrappy so it won't quite be so uninformed.  Looks like I'll be busy. Like I'm not already.

What's Up - 7/8/13

Today and probably the rest of the month will be my tiny Lemoyne stars up on my wall. This is one of my Git-R-Done for this month They are small Finish size will be 3 inches. They are not that hard because I am using Deb Tucker's Rapid Fire Lemoyne Star Tool. Here is a link to a YOUTube video of this tool Once you try this you realize how easy it is to do such a difficult block. Neat thing about it is that you use strips instead of templete of diamonds and squares. And there is no Y-seams. Which is a good thing because I want to make a reproduction of this antique quilt. Now my stars will be 3" but on this antique quilt which was probably sewn by hand, the stars if I remember correctly were around 2 or 2 1/2 finished stars and there are 275 stars. Now see why I'm loving this tool. Now an update on my Love Entwined  I have the compass made and need to add the inter center circle plus the outside ring. The fabric in

What's Up Monday & Get-R-Done Update

July 1st already, half the year has past. Where I live we are having below average temps, 82 today. That is almost unheard of, normally it's in the 90's and humid. Loving it and means I'm spending a lot of time  outside and not that much in the sewing room. I know it will not last and I'll be back to the sewing room when it's too hot to be out. What's up on the wall is one of my RSC13 . I'm a couple months behind and this is Aprils color orange. Still have blue,   yellow and this months teal  to do. I know what I want to make, it's just doing it. This months (April) baby quilt I made fabric from scraps and then on a piece of fusible interfacing I drew a circle on the plain side. I put the fusible side next to right side of the fabric and stitch on the  circle I drew. Trim the circle and made an opening in the fusible to turn it inside out Try to push out the edge as much as you can to make the circle round. I have mi

What's Up Monday

Can't believe it's Monday already. Here is the start of a new week and I have so much I would love to be able to accomplish this week. To start off that list, is this string Christmas quilt I have been working on. I am down to the border, and I haven't decided what it is I want to do on the outside edge of the border. Do I want to leave it plain and just have the binding as the edge fabric.  Or do I want to add a strip of the background fabric, what I would call the background fabric, the light colored fabric all around the edge. What do you think? This is one of the four Get-R-Done's that I had thought I would do this month. I have not yet  posted   what my four were and always meant to. But somehow time got away from me this month. It just  flew by.  So this one, plus my candy wrapper, and the quilt I'm working on for my daughter that I'm quilting are 3 out of 4. I cannot remember  what the fourth one was. I think these three w
