One goal for this year

One of the goals I have for this year is to make a dent in my yarn stash and one way is to knit a pair of socks each month. This is most of my sock yarn but do have some solid colored sock yarn in another box. I was working on this pair of socks that I started in December. Had one sock done and close to half way done with the second. But Monday while out running errands,  which one was getting the oil changed in my car,  I was knitting on the sock while waiting. But sometime during the rest of the day I lost the sock that I had finished. I do not have enough of the yarn to make another sock, so I just frogged it. Since my goal is to make a pair and there is a KAL called #freesocks2020 on Instagram.  This was January's pattern  on-the-fence   Free pattern I am relearning how to knit socks and one thing I've learned is my tension. Started out loose but by the end of the first sock I've found my mojo. Ended up having a slight difference in size.

Wonderful Weekend

It was a nice relaxing weekend for a change and boy did I so enjoyed myself. I had intended to write this last night but I was just enjoying how relaxed I was. Enjoyed watching season 3 of Outlander and working on my Advent socks AND  a new project  started a shawl for one of my daughter for Christmas. It's a crochet pattern by Sandra Paul of Cherry Heart, pattern is called Linden Bee So pretty.... Also was able to get to some sewing in weekend for the first time in quite awhile. In fact you can see by my collection of plants that found a home on the sewing table that I haven't been doing much sewing lately. They really do like it there, west facing window. But they were moved so I could dust off the machine do some sewing.  I have been collecting projects and finally was able to get a few completed. I finished up weaving on a few washcloths, so they needed to be hemmed.  Nothing fancy here, As you can see they are not

Countdown to Christmas

My goodness it's only 13 days until Christmas. Have to say this year is a little different, we have had family coming all month. My middle daughter and her family have been here already and  my oldest brother and wife will be here this weekend. Then next weekend my other daughters will be here.   Everyone is here to share Christmas with Mom. She now has hospice and we all want to make the most of what time she has left here on earth. Needless to say my time for a while now has been away from home and such but I have been taking still small hand projects to take with me when out on appointments and visits. I started a pair of advent socks It's been a few years since I've knitted some socks. I debated whether I would use double pointed needles or circular needles and I went with the DP needles. And have no regrets. I have missed knitting and I am taking it slow so my wrist doesn't act up. I had already knitted 2 cowls.  O

Yarn Along

WOW!!! I knew it had been a while since I have participated at Small Things with Genny. In fact March 23th was the last time. I haven't  been knitting much but have been weaving on the little loom I bought this year. I have wrote about my little cricket here   . My plan is to share the scarfs I had woven the past few month but not in this post, soon tho. But Monday I was putting a few things away and came across this pattern for a Knitted Santa Cup Cozy I had printed off from here . This afternoon I finished the pieces and attached the arms and put on the buttons. Had a good collection of red buttons to pick from. So what do you think? Cute..... but not sure how useful. This would mainly be decorative for me. Maybe candy canes!! I have read a bunch.  So many to just put in this post, it would take me all night    What I thought I would do is give you a list of some of my favorites I read. Devil in White C

FAL Q2 Finishes

When I realized that the second quarter of the FAL over at Sew Can Quilt was over and everyone were posting their finishes, I thought to myself "I did it again, another 3 months have gone by and I've done other projects other than the ones I posted that were priority. But it was just now as I was thinking about should I just go ahead and repeat last quarters list  (link to the list) when it dawn on me that I do have one finished.  It's a knitted item, one of the Fringeworthy scarfs I've made.     Started and finished this back in April .  It was a simple and fun project to knit. I feel so much better now linking my finish at  she can quilt
