Week of Farm Picture 8/18 - 8/24

I haven't shown or talked much about "the girls" lately so this weeks photos are dedicated to them. I have been fortunate to have lost only one hen so far this summer and it was one of the new girls. She had something wrong with her since she was a chick and I was surprise how long she did live. So out of the dozen chicks I have 10 hens and now a new rooster. Thats right they were not all girls like they were supposed to of been. Thats not the first time that has happened. After losing the  "Love Machine" we now have "Stud Muffin" and funny thing is they look the same.   The hen count is now 23 and I'm getting on the average 13 eggs a day. I added these pictures  because  I just thought they were neat. First one is the boys waiting for something that was in the squash and melon patch. Ready to pounce This is a stop sign that is a couple section lines over from us. I just think it's so cool how th

Week (half) of Farm Photos 7/31 - 8//3/13

Well it's really just half of the week worth of farm pictures. I arrived home Wednesday evening and have been out in the garden every morning since I came home. I thought I would share the fruits grown here on our place. Some are doing better than others.

A Week in Photos

It has been a very busy week here on the farm. The garden is starting to produce and plus been busy preparing the boxes for the fall garden. The chickens are busy trying to keep cool from the heat and so have I. Except for what chores I do in the morning I stay in the house the rest of the time, so I did not take as many pictures as I should of. I hope you do enjoy the ones I did take.

A Week in Pictures on the Farm

June 30 - July 6 It was such a very nice week, weather wise. I was very busy out in the garden so much of what I have to show is from there.  Hope your week was as pleasant as mine was.

Weekly Goal - organizing my vegetable seeds

Last week I made my goal to go through my seeds I have and reorganize them and replace the ones needed to plant for the fall garden. before I started So I went through the seeds and separated the old from newer.  I tossed the old ones  and I had seeds that dated back to 1994 Then I emptied and clean out the container I store them in and went through the dividers I made and put them back in order. Found some recycled freezer bags, ( I wash my bags after I use them and save them). What I do is put the seeds in the freezer bags and then just file them in the box. Easy enough. Have a few flower seeds also off to the side. I try to mostly plant perennials but I do have some flowers I like to plant in with the veggies to help attract pollinators and they are annuals. Bought the new seeds and have all the summer crops in and here in a couple I will start with fall planting. Here the ave. first frost is Nov 3. but if you do

This Week in Picture

It was hot this past week, the chickens would wade in their water dish to help cool off. Sure makes their water dirty. Even though  it was hot, work on the farm continues. Here is a small peek of what went on here at the farm.

A Week in Pictures

Lisa over at Fresh Eggs Daily has been showing pictures she takes at her farm and then posts them weekly. I have been seeing her pictures all this time and then for some reason I thought I could do something similar. I have this new camera and have not yet learned to use it. I just  keep taking pictures with my IPhone. I do well using my phone but I so do want to learn this new camera. To challenge myself I will try to learn my camera and post the pictures as I learn. I'm not going to pressure myself with a deadline, just a goal to learn how. This time though these are taken on my IPhone. Summer is here on the farm and the old house has stood for another year.
