I finished take 2 #2

I was able to work on something of my own today and that was the second set of it takes two. Now I don't know about anyone else but I had some issues with a couple of blocks. I thought I had read somewhere else about the same thing but when I went looking for it I could not find it.  It took me all day because I had to deal with trying to find someone who would come out here to work on our hot water heater. It went out Friday and "the man of the place" could not get it working. I was told by a couple of places that they didn't come this far out here. Finally found someone who would but not until tomorrow. I am really needed a shower in a bad way. A sponge bath only go so far if you ask me. "The man of the place " actually takes a cold shower. I'm a sissy and just can't do it. I finish one of the grandson's hats. I have this preemie hat pattern and it will be perfect. Chances they will be early and little so they will need ones of

Egg Recipe #5

Spaghetti Cabonara Ingredients 1 pound spaghetti 1/2 pound bacon, sliced crosswise into 1/2 inch pieces 3 large eggs 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese with some extra for topping Black pepper Directions Bring a large pot of water to a boil over high heat and cook the spaghetti. Meanwhile, in a large skillet, cook the bacon over medium-low heat until just crispy, 8 to 10 minutes. Skim off some of the fat. Drain the pasta, add to the bacon in the pan, and toss to combine. Whisk together the eggs, cheese, and pepper in a small bowl. Pour into the pasta, and combine thoroughly. Serve immediately with extra grated cheese, if desired. Serves 4 - 6 Now do not worry about the raw eggs, seeing how the pan is hot, the noodle are hot and so is the bacon, the egg mixture is cooked plus the cheese melts. First time for this one and I like it and so did "the man of the place". Very easy and fast.

Oh my, stash report

I was doing so good until this week.  I couldn't help it, I was at a shop that had Blueberry Crumb Cake by Moda  and I have this thing for blue so I just could resist. Have no quilt planned, just goes in the stash for when I do find that right project. I had not bought any fabric in a couple of months and then it's like I went off to the deep end. I have bought 35.5 yards.    Woo - wee I now have a minus usage. Used this Week: .5 yards Used year to Date: 4.5 yards Added this Week: 35.5 yards Added Year to Date: 36 yards Net Used for 2012: -31.5 yards Not good, I need to get really busy and start using it up.  Check out  Patchwork Times  to see how others are doing. Till next time Kat =^..^=

My Turtle Pincushion Collection

I have been off the the grid here all week. It's not because of anything technical, its just that I have been busy doing heaven knows what. I have nothing to show for all my busyness. So I thought I would share my pincushions I have collected. "The man of the place" loves turtles and because he loves them I figure I would share in his love.  I believe in if I am to collect anything, it has to be something that is hard to find so that way I will not end up with a lot of it. I just do not have the room Plus I hate to dust. Here is some of my turtles,  His head and tail bobs up and down. I think this one is a french turtle, the hat. Me and "the man of the place", so sweet isn't it. This one is only 2 inches long. So cute. I am always on the look out for more. Till next time Kat =^..^= Linked this to Vintage Thingie Thursday

Disappointment

I wrote my post this morning with plans of getting a couple of things done in the sewing room. Just did not go as planned. My focus was just not there. I would start with a task and then get sidetracked with something else. Example I was going to work on the Sisters in Scriptures block, then I realize that I had to make copies of the pattern for the ladies, so I proceeded to make copies on the copy machine. While doing that I was in the spare room when I thought about some fabric I had and figured it was in here somewhere. An hour later, no fabric but did get the copies made. Went back to making the block, this is  the Afflicted Women or also known as Veronica    OK that's done, believed I could finish working on Morris Meadow. No, I get a phone call that I ended up having to go take care of. Get back and had to go feed the cows since I put it off so I could a ton done in the sewing room,  yea right There is always tomorrow, God willing.

So first on the list is,

Egg Recipe #4

So I made another dessert with eggs and that is because "the man of the place" was begging for something sweet.  I have been trying really hard to keep sweets out of the house after having a overload at Christmas. I gave in and made him Baked Custard, seeing how he ate all the buttermilk pie by Tuesday. I have never made just custard before, I've made peach custard pie. It was very easy, a lot easier than I thought. Take only 5 ingredients. 3 beaten eggs 1 1/2 cups milk (2%) 1/3 cup sugar 1 tsp. vanilla     Ground nutmeg or cinnamon Combine the eggs, milk, sugar, and vanilla. Beat till well combined but not foamy. Place four 6-ounce custard cup or 1/2 pint jars in an 8x8x2-inch baking dish. Pour egg mixture into cups. Sprinkle with nutmeg or cinnamon.if desired. Pour boiling water into the baking dish around the custard cups to a depth of 1-inch Bake in a 350 oven for 30 - 45 minutes. or till a knife inserted near the center comes out clean.
