Merry Christmas "Quilt Show"

Merry Christmas to you all and yes I know it's a little early for that but not if you are going to be participating in Quilting Tutorials blog Quilt Show. I would like to tell you about my entry. I first seen this book when on my anniversary trip, I went to a quilt shop near where we were staying and fell in love with it.     Ruby Red Dots: Fanciful Circle-Inspired Designs  Sheri Howard (Author) I have a passion for applique and knew I had to make this one.  I do not believe this quilt is represented as a Chistmas quilt but the colors to me just scream Christmas. So here is mine, it is a large quilt (fits my king size bed) which is hand appliqued, machine pieced and hand quilted. I appologize for my picture, the quilt stand I have is missing a piece and I was unable to use it. So it's a floor shot. It's now time to vote for Viewer's Choice.  You will need to go here and leave a comment with your favorite quilt ( hopefully mine # 6

Glutton for Punishment

I guess I am just that.  (Update here, I making this my  November NewFO . Click on link to see the others)  Bonnie Hunter is doing another mystery and I hadn't joined in before and glad I didn't because they were a little to busy of a pattern but this time she saids "First off – this mystery will NOT be as intense as the last two years have been.  You can rest a bit easier on that factor alone.  I’ve worked really hard the past couple of years and so have you.  I thought we needed a fun break that will still use up a lot of stash in a very fun and beautiful quilt.  And that is how we find ourselves on EASY STREET!" On my side bar I put her button, so if you wish to join in too. Now I am not following her color choices because I just don't have a stash large enough in those colors but I do have a great deal of 1800's reproduction fabrics. Here is my choices The reds look more brown than red. The first clue is to make 4 patch

What's (not) Up

I had taken my part of the Quiltathon and meant to give an update each day but somehow the days got away from me. I was able to do a few things and would love to share what I did. Then I will continue with what I plan on doing this upcoming week. Yes I know, Thanksgiving is this week but unfortunately the family are all far away and will not be here for the holiday.  Well on to some happy thoughts, I did get the binding on the Sunflower quilt and now need to hand stitch it down and when I get it done I'll post a finish picture and I did work on Ben's stocking each night. Remember I was going to show a before and after picture.  Here it is. before  After These little quilts are for the grandsons of course and they fit in with what I did this past weekend and what I'll be working on this week I'm still getting use to making two of everything.  I did not get my stash bee block done so I need to work on that this week also but did not pu

New Day, High Hopes (Day 2)

I am ready, bring it on. It's day 2 and I have given myself a pep talk and have a plan for today.  I am going to sew the binding on the two quilts that were on my list, I need to take the cats to the vet for shots, run a couple of errands, make a soup for dinner (not sure what yet) and if I have time make this months stash bee block so I can get in the mail. Last night I did work on Ben's stocking but I thought I would do is show a before picture and then at the end of the 4 days I'll show an after picture . So here is the before,   I think it will be interesting to see. When you do something it is hard to remember what it looked like in the beginning, your memory goes through the development along with whats being done.  till later http://sewmanyways.blogspot.com/2012/11/find-friend-fridaylinky-party_16.html
