Being a Slug

I have had a very slow Sunday, moved in slow motion all day....still  am. One task I did that was perfect for being slow was rewinding the yarn I have.  Started with this tub and decided to wind the yarn up thinking it would take up less space in the tub. Wasn't sure until I did it. It did but as much as I thought. Enough that I could add this bag before after  and a few other loose yarn around the house. Now with the bag and the few stragglers added to the tub and it's now full.  Now that, this was done I went on to mark some of the Rocky Road I'm quilting on. I know it's hard to see the blue marker I used. Then Pete felt he needed to help me out some but I don't find him sitting on it a big help Then I was thinking about Christmas and the quilts I have and ones I would like to do.  Which made me think about this one I had finished, thought it was quilted but can no

This week happenings

Looks like I've done it again, a whole week has passed without one day of writing. I have been trying to break this one bad habit for a while now, among many other bad habits I have also. Focusing has been an issue with me the past year. In fact I made that my word for the year last year, and I tried very hard to stay on track. Well that's and along with my energy deflating, plus the past few months I've been having anxiety attacks and bouts of despair and such during the day. So I finally went to the dr. and we had the talk about hormones and menopause. She has me on a natural HRT right now. They say it can be 4 to 6 weeks before I see changes and I have to say I've seen good improvement in my moods. My hair loss and other things I haven't noticed too much change, but it's only been a few weeks now. I'm hoping that it will help with my focusing too. I know part of it is a bad habit that has been created from this past year. So enough  about menopau

Friday Finishes

I have been busy but not at sewing the past week Was able to make a few blocks of the Retro Air-Ship Propeller. If you hadn't read all about earlier this month about how Karen and I are both making. You can see the post here about the pattern and how to get free copy or one to purchase. I can add here that after writing that post, Deb at Frugal Little Bungalow  decided she was going to join in the fun. I think that is wonderful and I think the more the merrier. Well started out with this block Now my thoughts were this was going to be a good pattern to use up some of the fat quarters and scraps. Which is what I'm going to do, Here are the two we decided we would make for the month. But if know anything about me I sometimes can just stop when I find a good idea.  This is a 1930's pattern and I do have a large collections of 30's reproduction fabric. Which was obvious when it came to moving it out of the sewing room. Came across a tub o

Debut of floors

Been busy this past week putting furniture and some items back in the house.  With that said I still do not have it all in place but enough where I can give a good idea of what was before and what is now. My house was built in 1982 and had all original carpet and vinyl.  carpet was in ever room except kitchen and back bathroom, my bathroom did have carpet which was eliminated. Carpet was brown and the vinyl was a dark tan with a darker pattern which made the house dark. My goal was to lighten it up without going white.  So here are before and after pics I think I was able to get a brighter look in the kitchen. Turned out so much better than I thought, I was really worried this tile would be too big and not look good together but it does. No more carpet ...... YEAH!!!!! Got the tile look but the warmth of the vinyl. Don't we love our hexagons  I can not say enough on how much I like this carpet. It's so soft, clean and br

What's Up 09.19.16

They have worked on the livingroom floors and wish I could say they are finished but no. Hopefully one more day and I can get my house back in order. I can handle chaos for so long and I believe I have reached my limit.  The plus part to all this is that I'm in my sewing room for most of the day, need to stay out of their way. Today was a day of sewing all the parts completed so far together to the Words To Live By . Getting closer to the end.  Since this part is done, it's time to sew all the HST for the outer border. Somewhere around 120 for each side. Hadn't counted yet .... just guessing. That section above is only half of the top border. Tonight a little more quilting. I am so slow at it compare to some. But I do enjoy quilting. Linking up with  love laugh quilt bambisyr-evaj patchwork times cooking up quilts ems scrapbag

Slowly Going

Now that the carpet is laid, it's time to think about how I want to set up the sewing room..... and all I can say is the first to be put back is my sewing machine.  I knew where that needed to be, the rest is all going to be change. And I've decided I am not bringing it all back in.  Most of my day went toward trying to get the place a little more back the way it was. Now that is evening and time to relax I'm working on quilting the Rocky Road.  It's been a while since I had done any quilting on it. Linking up to Kathy's Quilts

Getting Closer to a Finish

I'm so glad it's Friday and can say that besides the kitchen floors being finished, now the carpet is also finished.   Hopefully if all goes as planned, which nothing has yet, they said the hardwood will be finished by next Tuesday. Then the tough part starts and that is going through all my stuff before putting it back in the house. Really need to purge some things, have way too much stuff. Before I had to clear all out of the sewing room I worked on " Words To Live By "  Completed  the corner sets of HST and sewn them to the center block.  Also was able to sew the appliqued blocks together. Hadn't had time to get the light border strips on before they came this morning but at least I'm ready when I do get my room somewhat back together. Haven't yet decided how I want to set up my sewing room and what I want to put back in it.... definitely not all I had in there. The past week while emptying it out I been liki
