Total Relaxed Day

I decided this morning that it was going to be a day of as little housework as possible, just the basic. Also no cooking.... total leftover and clean out the frig day. It was a cold, blustery day. Sun came out but still didn't make much of a difference. Stayed inside, lots of piecework, sitting around. Probably too much sitting around but it will warm up and it is going to be a busy week ahead. On the list for today was to add grey around this diamond Done  I also dug out the Vintage Garden top that is pretty close to done. First I put down on the floor to get an idea of how I was going to go about the border. But the light is bad and really didn't think it would work.  so I put it up on the design wall. The outer border will be pieced cuts. This was a BOM from about 10 years ago so I'm working with what I believe it's suppose to be. I do not have a picture of the finish quilt just a photo copy of he pattern or able to g

Trying Machine Quilting

I haven't done a lot of machine quilting, less than 40 hours in and I do think it's a challenge. I hear if you doodle it helps. I don't doodle and so it's hard at time to think ahead on where I should be stitching.  I know, I know... Practice and more practice is what it takes and these past two days I have. So I wound some bobbins.... ready to go I finished the Baby Blue.   I tried my hand at stippling and I'm not sure what it's called but its like half an orange peel. I maintain a smooth curve is tough at times.  Thought of this for the border  Getting a little better towards the end. Then I went ahead and sandwiched the Wonky Log Cabin  and quilted it today. I thought wavy lines from top to bottom would be one to try on this one. Again getting smooth curve is something I need more practice.  I was able to finish quilting and put the binding on.   All done with March and April RCS Linkin

Getting Done

I was able to have a day home without needing to go anywhere, unless you count riding my bike. It got warm today....I even worked up a sweat. It did get up to 80 and here they say that it will be in the 40 degrees cooler this weekend. I put off planting much because of this screwy weather. This morning I was able to finish what was in the hoop and move the hoop over to the next star. After cleaning a little and the ride I was ready to get a little sewing in but when I did I realize I left the room a mess from all that cutting of scraps for the Wonky Log Cabin Instead of just throwing it all back in the tub I decided to take care of it now After 2 hours I had some more Tumbler blocks cut and the rest cut into squares and strings. Felt good Took a break and did laundry, vacuum and such. When I went back to it I decided I would do some machine quilting on the Blue Baby quilt. Almost done. Also gather up the Vintage Garden top and

Good Day

This Morning I was able to get in a little quilting before I had to go to Tulsa. I had both tires on my bike go flat so it was time to take it to the shop and get it taken care of. Been a while since they went flat and now that the weather is getting warmer, I'm itching to ride. Been making some progress, almost to the last corner and than just a few more stars and the white spaces between. After I came home this afternoon, was able to finish the last blocks  for the Wonky Log Cabin. They turned out really nice. Next is finding a backing so I can go ahead and quilt in on the long arm. This evening while watching TV I prepped some more hexes. Over all it was a good day, best part is I was able to get in a short ride in this afternoo n. Looking forward to more. What's Up and On My List

I mean't to write yesterday but time got away from me and then I just to tired to write last night. What's up on the design is a couple projects I hope to get completed this month. One is the Wonky Log Cabin working on 6 more to go along with the 6 I have completed. I am having so much fun making these. I really do need to make more improve. Plus it is such a pleasure to use up scraps. Then on to the other blocks up on the wall. Have 4 of the 9 blocks needed for the Kith and Kin Again this is a stash buster, using up 2 1/2" strips.   I have found a few nice patterns using 2 1/2" strips and boy do I have the strips already cut and in tubs. Now to the List, have 10 items listed. 1. Finish the Lime Crosses 2. RSC - yellow-   Wonky Log Cabin 3. Prep some of the outside border for the Vintage Garden 4. I worked some on the Wonky Log Cabin blocks. Finished these 6 and will do 6 more Blocks are 12 1/2 right now. Mainly today is I worked on some piecework. Quilted some on the Blue Rocky Road,  after having it put to the side for a while..... since I was quilting on the Scandinavian Christmas . Now that it's done, this quilt really needs to be finished. There is a lot of quilting in this quilt and I'm still not sure how I will quilt the border. Also this evening did some more stitching on the Mosaic Diamond Hexagon blocks. I am in the process of changing this up some and I'll get into that more later Linking up with Kathy
