Easy Peasy

Bonnie was right about this step would be easy. In less than 2 hours I was able to have what I needed cut and 1/4 of them completed. I would of tried to finish but I didn't start working on them until 6 pm. My brother and his family came for a few days from California and we had dinner at our parents. A couple of hours is good enough for now, I'll work on them tomorrow. You see my Christmas is over for now. My daughter and the grand boys will not be here this Christmas or any of my other daughters. I didn't realize this is how it would be, when my kids were little we always had Christmas with the family and grand parents and you think that is how things will always be. That's not always true, is it.
Usually when I make a unit like this I will sew another stitch line at least a quarter inch from the first, so that way when I cut off the tip, I end up with a set of half square triangles

 They are 1 1/2 unfinished.
I should get 128 of these.

  4. I do the same thing with dog-ears. I've got two shoeboxes getting stuffed with them - one Christmas, one non-Christmas. Once in a while, I'll use them on the back of that project, but usually I add them to my boxes. One day I'll have some really terrific play time with them!

I'm sorry you don't have any visitors for Christmas itself. I hope you still have a peaceful, relaxing day and enjoy your time. Maybe some lovely movies and some stitching? :)

  5. I really like the colors you have chosen for Easy Street. Looking forward to seeing your finished quilt. I haven't started it, I do need to print off the steps.

Our children and grandkids are going to be visiting their in-laws this Christmas so we are also having a quiet few days. It just doesn't feel like Christmas without the excitement only little ones can bring.

    Merry Christmas.

Countdown to Autumn. 18 days

After some thought I came up with a general "get to" list for a pre - Autumn preparation. I had mentioned a couple in the last post. I will keep those and have added a few more. I needed to remind myself that a lot of my ideas are a little premature hance the pre autumn and will be better done next month. So here is what I came up with... Deep cleaning is still on Planning activity for next month Decorating inside and out.   Making a fall outfit, sewing and knitting Find some new recipes to try Make a pair of fall or Halloween socks I will be focus on journaling with Autumn being the present subject.  Making sourdough bread again This one I have already started, Watching a cozy, feel good show. So "the man of the place" and are rewatching PBS All Creatures Great and Small. In a matter of a couple days we have watched season 1. I figure we need to refrain ourselves and keep it down to a couple episodes a night. Today I put a binding on another quilt from the pile. ...

How to Make a Portable Design Wall

I had wanted to get a portable design wall to take to retreats but did not want to pay the price. Looked at various pins on pinterest and took ideas from more than one to come up with my verison. It worked out great and only cost a fraction of the price. The PVC pipes, joints and 2 yards of felt cost under $22.00 My design wall is 4' x 4' which stands approximately 5 1/5' tall. For this size need 2 - 10ft length of 3/4" PVC pipe for the frame and 4ft of 1" PVC pipe for the feet Cut the 3/4" PVC into 4 - 4' section                                                                                       2 - 1' section              Cut the 1"  PVC into 4 - 1' section        ...
