Whats Up, when I Left That Is

Up on my design wall was one of last years RSC. It is the 1/4 Log Cabin blocks.

I love how it is looking so far but I'm going to need to make two more blocks of my own color choice. Over at So Scrappy she did not pick a color for Dec. and my pattern needs the extra blocks.

Decided on a lavender color.

When I get back this weekend I can get busy on this one. I am going to try to finish it before the next week.
You see I haven't decided on what to make for this years RSC.  I have a few patterns picked out, I'll share what I have picked out but just let the pattern speak for itself. Then when I decide I'll go into more about the patterns and my thoughts. Otherwise this could get be pretty wordy post.

  1. The Amber Waves of Grain is fantastic. It will be so pretty when it's done in Rainbow colors. I like your RSC14 quilt too. I'm glad I'm not the only one who is not finished with all the blocks for 2014! Your other quilt patterns are just as lovely, good luck with the choosing. Maybe flip a coin?

  5. I am loving the Amber Waves of Grain. The half log cabins remind me of photos that Cabbage quilts puts up with the bright houses on the beaches of Austrailia!

How to Make a Portable Design Wall

I had wanted to get a portable design wall to take to retreats but did not want to pay the price. Looked at various pins on pinterest and took ideas from more than one to come up with my verison. It worked out great and only cost a fraction of the price. The PVC pipes, joints and 2 yards of felt cost under $22.00 My design wall is 4' x 4' which stands approximately 5 1/5' tall. For this size need 2 - 10ft length of 3/4" PVC pipe for the frame and 4ft of 1" PVC pipe for the feet Cut the 3/4" PVC into 4 - 4' section                                                                                       2 - 1' section              Cut the 1"  PVC into 4 - 1' section        ...

Yarn Along 2/20/13 Spoon Pin Doily

It's snowing here and I know some of you are tired of snow but here we will take the moisture any way we can get it. Plus it just gives me a reason to stay in and work on some of my projects. In this picture I'm not sure if you can make it out but in the background there are some wild turkeys that hang around the house sometime, just  chilling This project I'm working on is Spool Pin Doilies.   I had never heard of them before until Bonnie Hunter had mentioned it on her blog . She a had a viewer send her one for her sewing machine along with a pattern. I did not like the pattern but loved the idea so I decided to make up my own version. I wanted a more simple, smaller and fuller doily. So I tried different thread sizes to get one that I like. (From left to right) I tried sock yarn, which I'll redo because I think I like that look. Heavy weight crochet thread, nope too big Bamboo yarn, I like it. Looks good on my Kenmore. Pearl c...

Countdown to Autumn. 18 days

After some thought I came up with a general "get to" list for a pre - Autumn preparation. I had mentioned a couple in the last post. I will keep those and have added a few more. I needed to remind myself that a lot of my ideas are a little premature hance the pre autumn and will be better done next month. So here is what I came up with... Deep cleaning is still on Planning activity for next month Decorating inside and out.   Making a fall outfit, sewing and knitting Find some new recipes to try Make a pair of fall or Halloween socks I will be focus on journaling with Autumn being the present subject.  Making sourdough bread again This one I have already started, Watching a cozy, feel good show. So "the man of the place" and are rewatching PBS All Creatures Great and Small. In a matter of a couple days we have watched season 1.
