Slowing down this evening

After a full day of working outside I am more than ready to spend the evening relaxing and doing some embroidery work. 



I am so close to being almost done, I am getting excited. After all these years of off and on working on this project, it looks like I might be able to give these quilts to my 3 girls for Christmas this year. 



I am making each one and myself, so a total of 4 times 12 blocks 


Thats right 48 blocks, now you know why I am so ready to have this finish.


I have just two blocks left,

As you can see its December's block.


 The pattern is Ruby's Garden by Waltzing with Bears from 2007 and I believe that is the same year it was offered as a BOM. I decided to just recieve the pattern without fabric. Chose to pick my own. 
Maybe this part can be completed before I go to my daughters for the "Little Dudes" 3rd birthday.

      That is sweet and yes it will. I thought I would never did it this close. Can't wait to show the finished blocks or top. Oh heck lets go for it, the quilts

    Your entire post has left me inspired... I love your "red work" embroidery.. it is lovely!! I also love to make colorful embroidery but am just starting on my quest in that direction. So nice that you have worked slow and steady on this project and now it is almost done... I haven't visited your blog in a while and I love the egg count you have added and the clipart about Love, Laughter and Friends! Thanks for sharing your artwork and thoughts :) Excited to see how you bring each quilt together now :) Kathi

      You reminded me that I do need to update my egg count, the girls are very busy laying these days. I too was please when I found that clip art, I love the look of the Arts and Craft style. My home decore is in that style so I figured why not my blog reflect a little of that too. Thank you for your nice comment and taking the time to write it.

How to Make a Portable Design Wall

I had wanted to get a portable design wall to take to retreats but did not want to pay the price. Looked at various pins on pinterest and took ideas from more than one to come up with my verison. It worked out great and only cost a fraction of the price. The PVC pipes, joints and 2 yards of felt cost under $22.00 My design wall is 4' x 4' which stands approximately 5 1/5' tall. Yarn Along 2/20/13 Spoon Pin Doily

It's snowing here and I know some of you are tired of snow but here we will take the moisture any way we can get it. Plus it just gives me a reason to stay in and work on some of my projects. In this picture I'm not sure if you can make it out but in the background there are some wild turkeys that hang around the house sometime, just  chilling This project I'm working on is Spool Pin Doilies.   I had never heard of them before until Bonnie Hunter had mentioned it on her blog . She a had a viewer send her one for her sewing machine along with a pattern. I did not like the pattern but loved the idea so I decided to make up my own version. I wanted a more simple, smaller and fuller doily. So I tried different thread sizes to get one that I like. (From left to right) I tried sock yarn, which I'll redo because I think I like that look. Heavy weight crochet thread, nope too big Bamboo yarn, I like it. Looks good on my Kenmore. Pearl cott
