Making Progress

Yesterdays class, Metro Twist, went very well and even thou it was a small group, it was for the best.... seeing how I hadn't done a class in ages, little rusty. But from the ones who were there and we're able to sew, they made a block and learned all the tips I had.  One lady was given incorrect instructions on how to prep her fabric. But I had extra fabric and some cut out pieces that she was at least able to practice some assembling. That way when she got home she could start on hers. But with her help this much was done on a future baby quilt. On my way to another goal of having at least a dozen baby quilts to donate this year. Today was able to finish the small blocks that I ran out of fabric on,  and using the wrong side of this fabric work out perfectly. Not an  exact match but just fine. Can you figure out which five squares I used the reverse fabric? Need to add the border and all will be good with this top

Slowly but Surely

Today and yesterday I've been working on the same things. Have put in a couple hours on machine quilting and it's coming along nicely. It's all been a new learning experience for me but it's enjoyable. Not quick for a reason, want to get the feel of what I'm doing first before I think about being quicker. I lowered the speed on the machine to help me be a little slower. Working on the purple one first cause my thought is, this one is getting easier designs to work out. In the ditch stitching and the sashing I'm thinking loops. The pink Urban Nine Patch I want to do something that is a little more challenging in designs. Maybe it will next... or not. Also been working of the flannel scrap box. This is part of "I may have a scrap problem." Done two receiving blankets and burp cloths so far. These have already been given away. Have a few more cut and ready to sew, And a pile of pie

What's up

Up on the design wall is my finished March rainbow scrap quilt. I can now say I have another project to machine quilt on, and another baby quilt to find a home for. I'm working on the rest  of my Quilty Circle 365 for the month. I found some new novelty prints at the Dallas quilt show earlier this month and I'm taking the time now to cut out I spy circles.  Not sure if I will get them sewn  today or tomorrow, seeing how I really would like to start machine quilting on the baby quilt. I've been looking at images online of other urban nine patches. Wanted to get some quilting ideas on how to go about doing mine. I had to keep in mind that I am a beginner and cannot get some of the patterns that are shown accomplished because they were done either on a movable long arm or by a professional. But nonetheless I have gotten some really good pattern that I am going to attempt Linking up at love laugh quilt .patchworkt imes

On a Roll

Have you heard the one about your on the way to the garden and you get distracted by a messy garage.  Well that is what happen to me.  Since I'm trying to get stuff taken care of before I leave, I realized that it's not just the garden I need to attend to but the potted plants I have around the porches. Which means I need a place to put them in to protect from the cold.  The dream of a greenhouse is still a dream so until then it's the garage....hence the cleaning. Enough of the depressing stuff lets see what did get completed Put the border on the big orphan block. Done...ready to quilt...another one to practice on.. Did another Farmer's Wife. A paper piece one. Getting better at it, and by the time we're finished with the book I might be able to say I think I know a little about how to.  And you never know I might even like it. Maybe

What's Up Oct 12

Here it is Monday already and "The Man of The Place" had to go back to work and life for me is back to the usual. After a morning of taking care of the plants and animals. Then a few phone calls to take care getting the propane tank filled and towing a truck to the shop, I can now write about what is up on the design wall.   Seeing how "The Man of The Place" was home all week, I have up the same thing I did the week before.  Two baby quilts started. Both are patterns by Sew Kind of Wonderful using the Quick Curve Ruler. Did locate some brown fabric for this months color for RSC15 Started cutting today and the intentions are to get whats up on the wall and the blocks for this months color finished by then of the week. I think that's doable. Linking up with .patchwork times love laugh quilt what a hoot quilts http://bambisyr-evaj.blogspot.com/ cooking up quilts
