Thank Goodness it's Friday

I have had computer issues for a few years now, nothing major just that I've had to power my laptop by battery and not through direct power. Like my last Dell the power source jack would not stay connected.  So I purchase extra battery and charger, that way I had a battery to use. Nice in theory but it has it's glitches.  The battery use life could be maybe a couple hours, sometimes shorter, depending on the task I'm doing. I could and was living with that...... But The last straw is that Windows want to continually interrupt what I working on to download the new update to Windows 10. That would be fine but seeing how I can't keep it plugged in to download and battery doesn't last long enough. Needless to say it's not getting downloaded, close but not completed. Even though it said 89%, when battery goes dead I lose that installment. Have to start all over. Fed up and bought a new laptop that I'm learning "Windows 10"

My Slow Sunday

I wanted to share a little of what I have been working on, I did bring along with me mainly embroidery projects. I am still working of my list of UFO's and to be honest with myself I'll be working off that list for quite some time.  The ones I been working on is Scandinavian Christmas by  Lynette Anderson this is the quilt pattern and the section I am working on is the 3rd part. Right now I have all the appliqued parts done and I am working on the embroidery details. Done mainly in the back stitch and some stain stitching for the hearts and french knots (I use a colonial knot) Then the next thing I'll need to do is the cross stitched border. I copy the design on treansfer-eze and then will apply it to the block.  That is what I have used on my Snowman quilt that I doing (also on the list) I did finish the one block I brought with me.  I using the same fabric for all the blocks, a light motley blue. I love wo

Slowing down this evening

After a full day of working outside I am more than ready to spend the evening relaxing and doing some embroidery work.  I am so close to being almost done, I am getting excited. After all these years of off and on working on this project, it looks like I might be able to give these quilts to my 3 girls for Christmas this year.  I am making each one and myself, so a total of 4 times 12 blocks  Thats right 48 blocks, now you know why I am so ready to have this finish. I have just two blocks left, As you can see its December's block. The pattern is Ruby's Garden by Waltzing with Bears from 2007 and I believe that is the same year it was offered as a BOM. I decided to just recieve the pattern without fabric. Chose to pick my own.  Maybe this part can be completed before I go to my daughters for the "Little Dudes" 3rd birthday. A proud Grandma here. What's Up, Monday

Boy with the weather turning out to be just a perfect spring day, I will be outside most of the time today. But I do need to work on at least the block for tonight's Bible Study. This is what I have so far (minus last times block) my Sister's in Scriptures quilt.    And then I still have up My Little Birdie Stitches.   This is what I was able to do this past week. I finished the one on the left top, completed the January (snowman) and have most of April done.  Just a little more. But I am nowhere going to this UFO challenge done in time. But for now I need to get out into the garden and try to do some catch up out there. I should of had some of this planting done a couple of weeks ago. I just hope that having an early spring doesn't mean we are going to have an early summer. That will not work with planting some of my spring veggies on the end of the planting season.

What's next

I have decided that I am going to work on only projects that  I have started and can't start any new ones until I finish at least two WIP's. I've been writing done the WIP's and putting them order of priority. Like if this is going to be a gift that needs to done for Christmas, or how long ha it been since I started this one, etc. I decided to work on a quilt that I started at the beginning of this year. It's a free BOM pattern called Birdie Stitches at   Little Miss Shabby  . The cuties little embroider blocks. I just can't pass embroidery patterns. So I went through my stash because its a rule I gave myself, Use Up My Stash First. I looked for fabric that would go together nicely but I have such a Hodge Podge of stuff I couldn't find a good group. But then I remember I had all these charm packs and it would work perfect because there are 2.5" squares all around the embroidered block. It's not a soft look like the example she shows but cute n

How to Videos of Embroidery Stitches

I love to embroider.  Embroidery was one of the needlework's that my mother did and she taught me how, oh so many years ago. The fact that I can put the two things I love to do together, quilting and embroidery is a must. So I pulled out a few things I've done or I am working on to share. a White Birches pattern This a Bareroot pattern   What I love do also is to put embroidery with my applique pieces This is a P3 Design So if this is your thing too, I think you would like what I came across. It's this website called Needle n Thread and she has made some very well done videos to show you how to make a large variety of stitches. If you do embroider or want to learn how, this is a must see site. I like it so much that I'm going to keep a link to on my blog, so if you like to go back to anytime, you'll find it here.    http://www.needlenthread.com/videos Till next time Kat =^.

Some embroidery WIP

I haven't yet shown any of the WIP's I'm working on. I have not been diagnosed but I think I have adult A.D.D. I just can't stick to one thing and finish it before starting another. I either get bored or see something new and just have to start it. So here are two that I am working on I have had this pattern for a while now and just could not wait any longer. Now I'm doing mine in blue thread on a very pale blue fabric. For these two project I'm using Sulky 12wt. The blue is variegated. I like Bird Brain Designs. I'm doing this one and have completed another one. Except I am not doing them again in Red. Maybe you can tell I am not that fond of the color red. This one is done in sulky thread also,  color is charcoal. The one completed I used a variety of different colors. And I used DMC embroidery floss. Pam at Sager Creek  liked it so much that she is offering as a kit if anyone wants to do it also. But it can be done the way designer intended also, Red
