Hump Day

Boy it turned out to be such a pretty day. Ended up doing chores this afternoon, cleaning out the nesting boxes and collected 7 eggs today. The girls are working hard these days. one is out of the shot Checked on the heifers, there are nine of them that I'm responsible for and of the nine... four of them have had calves. They are so cute. That's right, I'm so cute.... I'm still putting up the last of the outdoor Christmas decoration. The inflatables needed to put in their boxes. I had them in a chair on the porch, just hadn't packed them away. Then put up all the electric cords. Done finally. Did do some sewing. Made the flying geese and now I'm trimming them all, 120 of them. Sewing the woven fabric is a little tricky. Stretches  some and didn't think about how the fabric was directional and when putting the units together it did not go all in the same direction.  I don't care for that

Merry Christmas

I'm a few days early for Christmas day but here at my home Christmas has past. Tuesday the last daughter left to go home, after two full and wonderful weeks.  It has been one of the best Christmas in years. Still have Christmas Eve services to look forward to.  While the grandsons were here we we're able to go on the Polar Express Train and it was wonderful. If you have one going on in your area you should think about it. The boys loved it and we have memories that will last a lifetime beside the warm feeling in my heart.   Ben believes.. I was able to get their PJ's done in time and they fit for the most part. They have a little room to grow.  Blake was concern that others would laugh if he wore the robe. It's sad that a 4 year olds thinks that. Tried to reassure him that many of the other kids will be wearing robes too ..... and they did. Ben wasn't of that thought, he eagerly wore his. They both are adorab

Just Slow

Woke up this morning with a sinus headache and felt  poorly. Ended up sleeping in which made for a slow start today. Did very little because of that. Did some weaving on another scarf I started a couple weeks ago, this one is with finger weight yarn both in the warp and weft. Using one skein, not sure it will be enough tho. I like how a variegated yarn will end up making stripes. Also been wanting to make some pants for myself. As I have gotten older, comfort take presidents over too much fashion. Don't get me wrong, I still like to look nice but not in the same way I did say in my 30's or 40's. My curves are not same so my style had to change. Today I cut out a pair of pants. Have used this pattern before and they are comfy pants. They look huge in this picture. But the front and back are one piece, no side seam. And yes they are loose fitting. Then did some stitching on the red birds. Have them all finished and tomorrow I'

What's Up 04.11.16

Mainly what's up is on the table. Forgot I told my mom that I would contribute some pillowcases to be donated to the children cancer center in Tulsa. So this morning it's catch up time. Have 3 fabric combination that will be nice. Have more but time is an issue today. Children prints is something I have a lot of lately.  Using the sausage roll method, which is the easiest and quickest way to make pillowcases that I know of. This Youtube video is the method I am using. Gives a nice clean seam, shows how to do a french seam so there are no raw seam edge inside the pillowcase. There are other videos out there with and without french seams but this is one out of the few I watch that was clear to see and understand. So here are my 3 cases ready to be dropped off at Mom's later today. Did have a few completed border blocks for the Scandinavian Christmas wallhanging up on the design wall. How to Make a Yoga Bag

For my birthday this year I decided to give myself a gift and it was to take yoga classes from a professionally trained instructor. Never have and have for decades follow a video or lately an app that is really good. But sometimes I feel I'm not doing the poses right.  Well there no classes near me so I've ended up going to Tulsa to The Inner Peace Studio. They are very nice, knowledgable and patient. I have a mat, blocks and a belt which I've stored them in a pillow case. That was ok for home but after taking my pillow case with me, it's not really the best way to take my stuff with me. So after a google search, came across lots of bags like this but they only held your mat and I needed something that would also hold the blocks and belt too. This was what I needed, right here  is a link to the pattern So here is mine. I had found some deco fabric for the exterior and then quilt fabric for the lining. The dire

A good day

Yesterday morning I was bound and determined to get some sewing in this afternoon. What I did is I made a list of things I wanted to accomplish today and then I inserted sewing in between my afternoon tasks . I am a "to do list" person …. I have to have a to do list otherwise I feel I am lost and do not get anything accomplished. Seeing how it was supposed to be stinking hot and humid I gave myself just a couple hours in the morning to work outside. I watered the seeds I planted,  tended to the chickens and was going to work on cleaning up my back porch. Well I was sitting there trimming Boston ferns and sweating like crazy, I decided my time was up and this was shortly before 9:00. Then I came in and cleaned up and tended to the things on my list. And I'm happy to say I was able to get some sewing in. I was able to finish one block and halfway complete another block.  In addition I was also able to make some sauerkraut from the ca

Poor Me, boo-whoo

Look how green and pretty it is starting to look, the temp. is 70 and calm, plus it is sunny. And what am I doing. Sitting in the house, feeling sorry for myself cause I would rather be outside in the garden then here near the phone because I do not want to miss a call from the satellite repair person. They were schedule between 8-12 this morning but here it is 1:15 and I'm still waiting. Did call twice to let me know they are running behind. Your saying, that's to be expected. So I'm having a little pity party. Well I've cleaned, and cleaned and just tried of cleaning so I thought I would look up a few things on the computer. And lo and behold I came across a couple of sites on how to make a bag from an old T-shirt. You might of have seen this before but it's new to me. I like it. I had cleaned out part of my closet and had come across some old T-shirts. Perfect. This is what I made in less than 20 minutes.  This is from a child size small. This i
