A Day in my Happy Place

I had full intentions of sewing part of the day... seeing how the prediction was right for rain all day. But I starting to clean and couldn't stop, ended up in my sewing room and was able to organized quite a bit. Boy, sure need to organize the fabric It started out by cleaning up around the floor area. Then I went over to the quilting books and decided to go through them, purged a few. Decided next to clean off my sewing area and water my plants. It looks really nice and clean now. But from the next picture you can see all the stuff hidden underneath the table, which I did not get to. ON THE LIST Had the floss to return back to the main storage from embroidering the RG blocks Seeing how cleaning out and organizing my sewing room was one of my goals for the year, I figured I better put a little more effort into it. Need to organize my scraps. I have enough bins to put them in now... I just need to label which size go where

Ruby #2 is Done

YEAH !! #2 is done. I've been mixing up fabric for the next one but still haven't came to a decision. So seeing how I'm not ready for #3.... I had to start the Twisted Blossom    I have all the units made for the first block but ran out of time. Needed to stop and make dinner but this is what it looks like so far I'm liking it. Now this is only about half of the prints and I might wait to assemble until I have a unit of all the choices of prints to pick from. Or maybe not. Going to make this a short one cause I want to spend a little time this evening quilting some on the 30's Sampler

Not much today

I wasn't home much today, I had to go pick up a quilt that was ready. Their is a group of hand quilters in Bella Vista Arkansas that did my quilt. I have to take pictures tomorrow to show. Even tho I hand quilt, I just have way more quilts that I want done by hand than I can get to.  Now Bella Vista is about an hour 1/2 from my home and I had a few stops to make also. So you can see why it would take almost all day.  I didn't do any gardening but I did get some sewing in. I almost have this one assembled Than my quilters ADD is flaring up again. I have bought a while back Sew Kind of Wonderful's Quick Curve Ruler and have been wanting to use it but told myself not until I finish some of my unfinished projects. Well they are doing a Twisted Blossom QAL and I can't resist. It's outside my box but I think one of my daughter's will like it. I have collected from my stash a group of teal/turquoise and gray fabric. Now if this is so

June Binding Blitz Quilt

I like what Julie is doing on her blog, encourages me to put bindings on a small pile of quilts I have in the spare bedroom.  This quilt was  a round robin I was very lucky to be part of and it was because I'm friends with Pam who owns Sager Creek Quilt shop. And she is a close friend to the others who were part of the group. All very talented designers, published quilters.  Talk about being out of my league, at least that's the way I felt but by the end of this robin, I felt better about my own skills. Still not near theirs tho. The other round robin members were; Pam Goggan Elsie Campbell Donna Lynn Thomas Marilyn McSpadden Talk about a lot of talent. Thank you ladies Well back to my quilt Pam Goggans did the quilting and it is spectacular I had fun playing around with the special effects on the photos This picture is my representation of Christmas in July I hope the info I shared on Sunday helped. I know the technique f

Whats up

What's up on my design wall, it is what I left there Saturday.  It's the second of the four Ruby garden quilts. Have all the blocks made and all thats needed to do, is assemble. Hope I can get that done today but don't know.  I didn't sleep very well ... I'm tired and don't know how much I'll be able to get done today.  Right now I feel overwhelmed, a lot of times I do just fine.  I will just work and do the best I can. But then there's days like this when I'm tired and will go into my sewing room and just don't know where to start. So I thought I'll make myself go for my walk this morning and see if  that helps. And it did to some degree.  But I'm still tired.... maybe a nap this afternoon will help me.  Seeing how that I'm close to finishing #2...  started laying out fabric choices for #3... which will be mine.  Just love blues, and so started picking out some pieces from my blue piles. I'm not tota

Slow Sunday

For what I'm working on this evening is the binding on a Christmas round robin from a few years back. I thought I would share some of my tricks to how I do my binding. like to use this  Great technique  on my mitered corners. I found this video on YouTube and is how I do mine.  Patrick Lose shows how. Like how they turn out. And I like the Clover small binding clips. Easy to use and hold tightly without falling off. I also like to use quilting thread or Sulky 12 wt thread., single strand. I have less knotting, strong and love the clean look.   Linking up to  Kathy"s Quilt
