Make a Dish Towel Apron

Here is the first of the apron patterns I promise to show how to make. This one is very easy and affordable. You need two dish towels, and 1 1/4 yard of 3/4" twill tape (available at Joann's) I had a package of three so I picked the two I liked, cost was $4.00. The towel that serves as the bib should be cut down to about 12" wide and hemmed along its long edges so that it is not too wide for the chest of the wearer.  To hem folded  the edge 1/4" and press and than fold again 1/4 and press. Then stitch. Take the one you want for bib and lay it  placed vertically, serves as the bib of the apron and the backside of its pockets. The second, positioned horizontally across the bottom half of the first towel, wraps around the wearer's hips and provides the front of the pockets. You might need to cut the bottom of the towel to make it the desired depth for pockets. I had to take off about 6", (this will depend on the size of y

I love gifts

Yesterday when I went to the Post Office I had a package from Australia there in my box.. You see a couple of months ago I signed up for my first time, a swap. It was Sandy's Cookie and Creams Scissor Keeper Swap and my partner was Deb  at Frog Cottage Designs.  I was so happy and excited to see what she had made. I just love it and it's going in my sewing basket I keep next to my chair in the living room. A big THANK YOU Deb........... I will always remember this. I wish I would of taken a picture of the one I sent her. Wasn't thinking ahead.  IT MIGHT BE ALL THIS SHAKING GOING ON HERE WITH EARTHQUAKES. I have felt more here in Oklahoma lately than I had the 36 years I lived in California. What's up with that!!!! Rattle and Roll =^..^=

Things never go as planned

Before Do you ever plan on doing something and only get to do a part of it, well that is how today went. I really tried to stay on task but somehow I find myself doing something else. So I get off to a slow start because I write my post this morning and than I figure, oh I'll just check on some of the others I follow and before I know it I have been on the computer for over an hour. OK, I can just get to sewing right after I eat something, hadn't had anything yet and it's close to 11:00 o'clock. I eat lunch. Now you see I have had this conditions since I was a child and that is after I eat lunch I get very sleeping and can find myself napping before I know it. Guess what, I did. Now it's 1:00 o'clock and I still have not sewn a stitch, so finally I am in there sewing. But I had to stop a couple of hours later because I had to run to the post office, pharmacy, feed store and then the grocery store. Get back home and realize I hadn't feed

My personal challenge today

Snowman quilt as it looks right now at 9:30 am Intention, put a fire under my @&$? and finish it. Heaven knows I have been having such a time at either being motivated,  making time or just being home this past month. Today I'm here and same with tomorrow. Now if I can stay on track and not distract myself, I should be as good as gold. Goal by the end of day will post what I was able to accomplish. I'm making this post as short as possible so I can get in my sewing room and get busy. Till later today Kat =^..^=

Antique quilts

I was at a quilt show in Pryor, Oklahoma this past weekend and they had a few antique quilts on displayed. I just can not pass them without drooling. My eye and heart is with the old quilts and I can remember more about the these few than any of the others there with the exception of one or two I was familiar with. I was asked by a family member if I could locate the name for this quilt I found out that this pattern is called Hazel Valley Cross Roads and was printed in the Kansas City Star on October 10, 1934. The few lines with the pattern said  "A 12 year-old girl quilt fan, Freda Napier, sent this pretty pattern, which she calls Hazel Valley Crossroads, for her home town in Arkansas. Thank you, Freda." Isn't that just the sweetest sentiments. Then there was this quit which was being used by one of the vendor's there as a table cover. I just love the simpleness of this design. Now I did not find a name for this one.  And this quilt is an au

2011 Giving Thanks Challenge

It is already the 3rd day but I want to go ahead and start because I believe it doesn't matter when, we should be aware of all that is around us and be so thankful/grateful for it all. Good and bad. I am going to write my thanks on the side to read just like I do in my journal, and change it each day. That way I can keep posting and give proper attention to being grateful. If this is something you do or have thought about, why not start.  Whether you have a blog or not (just write it down). It will change how you look at life and how much happier you'll be as time goes on as you do this. I'm an example of that. I feel very blessed because of it. This will go perfect with tie one on day  that I wrote about. So if you would like to read more go here . Till next time Kat =^..^=
