How to Make a Cool Car Trash Bag

This is my trash bag but it was not an original ideal, I saw it over at  Meridian Road   awhile back and realize that this was something I needed bad. You see I am notorious for throwing my trash into the back and would forget about it. Now that I have my new car and not the farm truck, I wanted to get out of that habit. What made this bag stand out for me was the fact that you can seal the bag shut so trash won't fall out and will keep the smell in and not in your car. Doesn't it look sharp, now the one I saw was made from an old money bag, I do not have an old money bag but I thought this ticking fabric would look good. Very easy to make and I'll share how I did mine, you can also see how she made her at her blog too. Start with a large Zip Lock bag and cut out 2 pieces of fabric about a 1/4 - 1/2 inch longer around the sides and about 1 1/2 inch at the top.  Sew the side seams, I had a fold on the bottom so I didn't need to sew the bottom but i

Egg Recipe # 22 Eggs in Clouds

I have had this recipe pinned on my board for quite sometime now and have meant to make it since then. It is one of   Rachael Ray  recipes but I did not have all the ingredients on hand, even thou it called for only 4. I did not have Pecorino-Romano cheese so I substituted it with some Swiss Cheese I had. And I didn't have chives either so I just cut some of the green tops off of the onions I have growing out in the garden. Eggs in Clouds Ingredients 4 eggs 1/4 cup grated pecorino-romano ( I substituted Swiss Cheese) 1/4 cup chopped chives or green tops to onions 1/4 cup crumbled bacon Pepper Directions Separate eggs, putting whites in 1 large bowl and yolks in 4 separate small bowls. Whip whites until stiff peaks form. Fold in cheese, chives and bacon. Spoon into 4 mounds on parchment-lined baking sheet; make a deep well in center of each. Bake at 450 degrees for 3 minutes, then add 1 yolk to each well; season with pepper. Bake until yolks are just

How to make a gnat trap

Yesterday while relaxing with "the man of the place" , he was watching Band of Brothers, I was on the my laptop just looking around when I came across this idea on someones board on Pinterest.  I thought it was Sarah Roe's board but I couldn't find it this morning when I went back. I should of pinned it, so I'm sorry I can't give credit to where credit is due. It was such a simple idea I didn't think it would work but I had the few simple items needed and what could it hurt to give it a try. I keep at time my harvested fruits and veggies on the counter and I also keep scraps and trimmings to put in the compost bin outside in a container on the counter next to the sink and no matter how well covered or sealed my container is, I still get these pesty bugs in my kitchen. YUK I wish I knew how they show up ever year.    As you can barely see in this photo some of the over dozen gnats/fruit flies in the jar. What you need is  a sheet of

Refreshing Fruit Salad

Today I had my friend Mary over for lunch, some stitching and a lot of catching up.  Nothing said summer than a beautiful bowl of fruit.  So I decided to make a fresh, ripe  and refreshing fruit salad.  Then there was the trimmings from making the salad leftover so I figured I would share it with "the girls". Boy, did "the girls" go nuts over it all. They had it all cleaned up in no time, and with this heat, I try to give them a cool or frozen treat everyday. I also made egg salad sandwiches for lunch and I used my egg masher for the first time. It worked really well.     And so cute too   Practical and cute We had a good time and we were able to get a little appliqueing done. We both have been working on the Dresden Plate Quilt. As you can see I have black for center and points and Mary is using a blue print for her center and points. I have six more blocks to get appliqued done and then need to assemble the blocks.
