My Five on Friday is a list of books that I had read and the last one  I just started. My list of books look like a list of self-improvement and in some way they are. Maybe it had something to do with it being the start of a new year. But that didn't last long, I'm ending the month with two books of fiction. The Miracle Morning by Hal Enrod.  This book is about how something as simple as a small routine each morning can make a change in one's life. He uses the letters SAVERS to use as the reminder of what to do each day. A time of  S ilence. A ffirmation. V isualization.   E xercise. R ead. S crip or write. The book itself was boring and like a sell pitch for himself. But the idea is a good one. It Starts With Food by Dallas and Melissa Hartwig. I would recommend this book. I am at the halfway mark of having the cataracts removed and replaced with new lenses.  This was right afterwards, tape still on Had the right eye done and next Tuesday it is the left eyes. I had spent 3 out of 5 days last week visiting doctors and again the first 3 days of this week. With being gone so much I had very little to share as far as what I've been working on. I could get a little cutting in on a couple days but that's about it.  I am so amazed how quickly my eye has adjusted to the new lense. I can see so well in just 24 hours, so today I spent the day sewing and cutting.  Was able to get these block done today and it felt so good. Been cutting blue fabric for this months RSC 16.  I had decided that a would make a small quilt each month using that months color instead of a rainbow quilt. My thought is to have some quilts completed to give away, basically speaking baby quilts, I'm using Metro Twist by Sew Kind of Wonderfu

Yesterday was our small groups day to meet and this time we all seemed to have brought something to show.  JoAnn had been busy.  antique one Now the rest of us...... These pictures are Linda Grandsons class. As a raffle quilt, the handprints the children colored themselfs. How can they not bid on this. I was going through the pictures on my camera when I found these I had taken last year when I cooked eggs in the pressure cooker.  Last year I purchased an Instant Pot and was finding ways to use it. Telling my friends about what I had and wanted to do is when Pam told me about how she hard boils eggs in her cooker. I had never heard of that before. Now that was something I needed to try Well time went by and I forgot what she said so I went to the Instant Pot website and there is where I found these instructions, Pour 1 cup water into the pot and position a steamer basket or trivet atop the steam rack. Place 3-5 eggs, using canning lids or metal cookie cutters to separate/hold the eggs. Close lid and steam valve.  Press Steam setting, and adjust time down to 4 minutes.  (5 minutes for hard boiled). At end of cycle, place a cool cloth on the lid and quick release the steam valve.  Use tongs to transfer eggs to a cold water bath for 1-2 min

Well here it is, time for 2016 finish A-Long. To be honest it's snuck  up on me. I had forgotten about it, plus forgot to post the last quarter of last year's finishes. So I'm just going to just start with a new slate. Then later I'll take the time to find the list of the ones that were for last quarter and see what I did accomplish. Forgive me on this post, it will be loaded with pictures First one on the top 10 list is to finish the 30 sampler. I am in the homestretch on this one, Quilting the border now and after that of course the binding and label. Then I'm done. Yeah, after all these years. Will feel good Number two on the top 10 list is the tumbling snowman I have a started.... that's all I can say about this one.  I have to put a few easy finishes on my list. Which number three is.  The Red String quilt is one of them.  Just require binding only.  These pictures were taken before it had gotten quilted.
