Slow And Steady

Yeah isn't that the saying.... slow and steady steady and slow, that's how the turtle goes.  Well I can pretty much say that's my philosophy too. Just stick it out and keep plugging along.  So that's what I've been doing with the wool appliqué on this last block for "Words to Live By" I'm at the halfway mark on it  and today I finish pressing the pieces in place for the third-quarter of this block  and I'll work on it tonight while watching TV and  baking cookies to send to "the little dudes" tomorrow. And earlier today I worked on putting the border for this month RSC challenge and it looks good.  I was questioning whether or not to add these strips in addition to the white strip it's framed in. But that would make it a little bigger than I want. Right now it's already 46 x 33. I could also use those strips to put on the back I'm thinking something in order at  like a large log cabin block.

Making Progress

Yesterdays class, Metro Twist, went very well and even thou it was a small group, it was for the best.... seeing how I hadn't done a class in ages, little rusty. But from the ones who were there and we're able to sew, they made a block and learned all the tips I had.  One lady was given incorrect instructions on how to prep her fabric. But I had extra fabric and some cut out pieces that she was at least able to practice some assembling. That way when she got home she could start on hers. But with her help this much was done on a future baby quilt. On my way to another goal of having at least a dozen baby quilts to donate this year. Today was able to finish the small blocks that I ran out of fabric on,  and using the wrong side of this fabric work out perfectly. Not an  exact match but just fine. Can you figure out which five squares I used the reverse fabric? Need to add the border and all will be good with this top

Happy Sewing

I have to say one thing about the hot temps is that  I'm fortunate to be able to stay inside with the A/C on, it gives me more time to spend on sewing.  I was so tired last night to write that I'll show what I did yesterday and what I did today. I like to say that I have spent very little time outside this week and what time I am, is all about supplying the plants with water. After that I need a shower before I can do anything else. Have to wash all this sweat off, blasted humidity. Today while out n the garden I picked the last of the cabbage,  couple reds and one green. I see sauerkraut in the near future. Yesterday I finished the last block for month 13 of Farmers Wife 1930's Sampler  While out yesterday I went by the quilt shop to drop them off. I like to take the completed blocks to the shop as soon as I finish them. Don't want to be responsible for them any longer than I need to. When I came back home, decided to work

Never Too Late To Learn Something New

Starting today was the first meeting for the Block Busters created by Deb Tucker at Sager Creek Quilt Shop in Siloam Springs Arkansas. It's a free class that meets each month where we will make 2 blocks each month, one for our self's and another to be donated for charity quilts. These blocks are being made using Deb Tuckers FUNdamental tools. At this meeting today the block we made used the Tucker Trimmer. If you haven't seen or heard of one here is a link to Studio 180 Designs There was a good turn out, actually the response has been so positive that they have 3 different time slots and they are all full. Not just making the block but we had a chance to see how value combinations effects the overall look of the block. Just by looking at all the ones here is just a small taste. Like the one above, changing the dark red to the more medium floral gives its such a different feel. The Tucker Trimmer helps make perfect hour glas
