Tomorrow is always a Day Away

I have been wanting to write all week but have had things pop up and I catch myself saying "tomorrow". Can say for once tomorrow is here and have so much to share. These past two weeks have been mainly spending time with family and very little sewing.  No I'll take that back, I've done a lot of handwork because I could take it with me to Doctor appointments and such. I have spent time in the morning quilting on the blue " Rocky Road ".  I can sort of see this one being completed after 20 years. Yes you read that right...... 20 years ago I started this quilt and maybe started quilting on it off and on 10 years ago. this picture shows that there is a few background spaces to do and I'll have one side done. Working hard to get it done. I have a stack of others waiting to get quilted. I did get all the fabric I had for the Mosaic Diamond cut out. My youngest daughter has becomed very interesting in wor

Some sewing going on

I can actually share some sewing this time. Was able to finish 3 of the 4   Farmers Wife  blocks   for next month's 30's club. I wrote earlier that had only 3 months left counting this set but I was wrong, it's 4. Still that's not much. I can say that I have becomed better at paper piecing and using freezer paper is my favorite way. I do know... I do not like tearing paper away. It felt good to spend time sewing and quilting. This evening was devoted to working on blue Rocky Road. I'm now working on the outer rows, which I'm starting on right side now, with help of course. Wanted to show you how big my chicks have gotten. They are now 2 months old and they look like hens, little one but hens all the same We have them out in the shop in a big round stock tank with a chain linked gate as a cover. 4 months from now they should start laying which we be good cause as of now the 6 old "freeloaders" h

Being a Slug

I have had a very slow Sunday, moved in slow motion all day....still  am. One task I did that was perfect for being slow was rewinding the yarn I have.  Started with this tub and decided to wind the yarn up thinking it would take up less space in the tub. Wasn't sure until I did it. It did but as much as I thought. Enough that I could add this bag before after  and a few other loose yarn around the house. Now with the bag and the few stragglers added to the tub and it's now full.  Now that, this was done I went on to mark some of the Rocky Road I'm quilting on. I know it's hard to see the blue marker I used. Then Pete felt he needed to help me out some but I don't find him sitting on it a big help Then I was thinking about Christmas and the quilts I have and ones I would like to do.  Which made me think about this one I had finished, thought it was quilted but can no

Slowly Going

Now that the carpet is laid, it's time to think about how I want to set up the sewing room..... and all I can say is the first to be put back is my sewing machine.  I knew where that needed to be, the rest is all going to be change. And I've decided I am not bringing it all back in.  Most of my day went toward trying to get the place a little more back the way it was. Now that is evening and time to relax I'm working on quilting the Rocky Road.  It's been a while since I had done any quilting on it. Linking up to Kathy's Quilts

Happy Valentine

Hope you had a good day. I did, I got  FaceTime with the "little dudes" this afternoon. So nice to spend time with them. I put another quilt in my hoop today.  It is a quilt I started probably 15 years ago. It is another scrap quilt with scraps from my clothing sewing days. A lot of memories in this one.  A majority of it quilted already. The pattern is Rocky Road and I did foundation piecing, using my favorite color BLUE I'm using blue quilting thread and at the time I started this it wasn't popular to use Pearl Cotton thread to quilt with as it is now. I do wish I had cause I believe it would be easier than what I'm doing now.  I wanted a larger stitch than I usually do and again that has been something I think I wouldn't do again. It looks fine but to change what I normally do is a challenge. It's like learning all over again. I have to pay attention, if not I fall back into what I'm comfortable do
