What a Feathered Surprise

This morning I went out to the back porch to get a few pieces of wood to put in the stove. We heat our home only by the wood stove that we have in the living room. So during the winter it is a chore I do hundreds of times. Since it was the first time this morning that I had gone outside the cats, Pete and Buddy made a mad dash out the door. I was grabbing a piece of wood when I noticed something out of the corner of my eye, Buddy had spotted a chickadee and scared it. In its panic it flew into the house because I had the backdoor open. Poor little thing, it was scared and was flying around the living room. Very poor picture,( iPhone) Needless to say this had the cats all excited, running around following the bird. I was dumb founded on what to do. I left the door open hoping it would just fly right back out. No, it was confused and would keep flying in circles and landing wherever possible. One time it landed way to close to where the cats could make a jump at it, s

It's Monday

So it is Monday and I have been working on what was up on my wall last week. I am really looking forward to getting it off my wall. Making progress and I should be done with it hopeful this week. Six more blocks to go I'm using Ricky Tim's Stable Stuff and will be doing invisible machine appliqueing. I like how it looks like I needle turn them and I do not have to worry about fraying. I'm linking this to What a Hoot

Egg Recipe 2

This is the second recipe, with fifty more to go for the year. This is how I make Frittata's and if you google for recipes there are 100's of them out there. Once I learned the basic way of making them I realize that you can get as creative as you like, using what you have on hand. And since I have challenged myself to use as much from the pantry without going to the grocery store, this recipe is perfect. The basic items needed are an oven proof pan, I use a cast iron skillet Eggs, at least 6, I figure 2eggs per person is a good way to figure, but I do use more for a couple of reasons, I like to have this as leftovers the next day and since I have a good supply of fresh eggs, I need to find dishes to use them up on. Meat, usually a pork product; bacon, ham, sausage or it could be any other type of meat. Could be something leftover that you have a small amount of because you only need around 1/2 cup. Vegetables and it could be anything on hand. You can make one

I'm in Love

I believe we can be in love with inanimate objects like our cars or our sewing machine or maybe a piece of art work. Right now I am in love with my new laptop . It is so sleek and shiny. Has that "new look" to it. You know like that new car smell that so many love. And speed, oh my I'm so not use to it. But it is wonderful and I will easily become accustom to it. My old one served me well for many years but as we say here on the farm, it's time to put it out to pasture To do this post has taken at least half the time as the old. So in love, hope the "the man of the place" doesn't get jealous. Till next time Kat =^..^=

My Pantry Challenge

I was the other day blog hopping on my own and came across a new blog good cheap eats  .She must of been  having the same brain waves I was having the other day and thought the same thing. You see I was suppose to get that new fridge the other day, (did not come in yet), so I had been thinking for the past couple of weeks how I need to empty out the old for the new. I was also thinking I should stretch it out to  include also the freezer(s) in the garage. Then I came across the pantry challenge . So why not take a challenge where I can eat from my pantry, clean out and organize the freezers and also my mess in the pantry. You see how do I know what I have until I get in there and see but right now I have to dig. You need to see what I'm dealing with and I feel like I'm about to show you my private undie drawer or something. Nobody looks in these spots but "the man of the place" and I.  Deep breathe, OK,  here goes; Old freezer. Old fridge

We Know Now

My daughter found out yesterday what she is going to have, and it's not one of each Boy/Girl but BOY! OH BOY! Bless her heart she is going to have two little guys and boy will she have her hands full. One thing about about most boys, they look after their Moms. I think it's that protector mode they have. I can't wait, I had 3 girls myself so this will be all new for me too. Now I'm on the look out for boy related things to make. Any ideas, I would love to hear them.

My Take on Take 2

I finished the first 6 blocks for Take 2  free bi-monthly BOM given by Gay at Sentimental Stitches and Brenda at Dear Jane. Gay does her patterns on the 1st and Brenda will do hers on the 15th.  This is the first set given and they went together like a piece of cake. There are 6 blocks of various sizes.  And yes they are Blue and White. So far so good, I am keeping up and a little ahead of schedule, my goal is to not get behind.  Update on the "girls" they gave me 6 eggs today. If you have chickens too, do you keep records of your egg production. I haven't or even thought about because I keep chickens for pleasure not profit so I had never consider doing so. But after reading The Hen Blog the other day Terry, she  was talking about keeping records and this cool old form she had. She is making it available to us on her blog. Here is the link  to download a copy of your own. So now I'm keeping track. I am going to have plenty of eg
