Have you ever been to McAllen, Texas. This was the first time for me and the first time I had been south of Dallas Texas. I had intentions of writing about our trip to McAllen while being there but I was so tried from traveling the first day and than setting up our booth at the quilt show. By the time we would get back to our room all I wanted to do was rest. So now I want to share some pictures of our trip and then the next post I'll show a few of the vendors I met and the some of the quilts in the show.  The first picture I took was the sign saying we were welcome to Texas, no longer in Oklahoma. This recipe is one I eat at least once a week if not more often. Being on WW I am looking for filling dishes but low in points and this one does both. Egg Burrito This will serve one but just double, triple or more if wanting to serve more than one You will need 1 Egg Fat Free or Reduced Fat Cheese Whole Wheat Carb Balance Tortilla Salsa Scramble the egg  Heat the tortilla, I put my on top of the burner and heat it that way. I have a gas stove and so I am just using the flame heat. If you do not have gas or prefer to heat in the microwave or in a pan that's fine, just do not use any oil. That will add points and if you do you will need to make adjustment to point totals Place the egg, 2 Tablespoons of cheese and salsa in your tortilla.  Roll and ready to eat. This is 4 points plus but if you another tortilla and split the egg mixture, you will have 2 burritos  for 5 points plus. Leave out the cheese and it's 3 pts for o

Last month at our Quilt Study meeting Alice McElwain had brought a couple of her signature quilts. She has a thing for them, if she find one in at least fair shape she'll snag it up.  This was a quilt she had  purchase and was told it was from Kansas but after doing some research she found out it was actually from Oklahoma. Somewhere in the Durant area. The blocks are interesting, this here is one block.  When joined the corners make a group of hearts. the center piece where the signature goes is what I find intriguing Reminds me of a bone but I doubt that's what it is suppose to be. See the L, and the detail to the block.   I just fell in love with all the neat embroidery work. Some very creative combinations of stitches were used. All the blocks had a lot of detail.  Different from most quilts in this style I have seen. I know I was suppost to start the first of the year and build one a day. At first I thought I would do it like Jeanneke and cut out the pieces and just sew together. Copied her pattern and then life happens as usual and I did not get to it right away. By the time I got around to it, I decided I was going to paper piece instead. By then she had removed the foundation pattern. I knew I had read on another blog about  having the pattern plus some. Well that too was gone by the time I finally found out who. So my friend Liz (who has kept up and has two rows completed the last time I seen hers) helped me figure it out using EQ7 on making my own pattern. Not that it was hard, its just I'm still new at drafting and it wasn't coming to me.  I do not paper piece much  :-p  So here it is my first house. I found this recipe a couple of weeks ago on Martha Steward's website while looking for some ways of adding poached eggs in recipes. Needed one that I could use for dinner and since I had some spinach growing in the garden and tomatoes in the freezer, this sounded like a good one for me. You know what, it tasted very good too. This one also is a keeper Poached Eggs with Spinach Ingredients 4 large eggs 1 tablespoon olive oil 16 grape tomatoes, halved crosswise 1 teaspoon coarse salt Freshly ground pepper 8 ounces baby or regular spinach (about 16 cups), tough stems discarded 1 garlic clove 2 tablespoons distilled white vinegar 1 tablespoon finely chopped fresh chives Directions Fill a large, shallow, straight-sided pan with 2 inches water. Can you guess what happen here..  I was looking out my living room window that looks out onto the patio and what do I see but a big spread of dirt. Do you know what happened here. It wasn't like this earlier This is what it was She just got done taking a bath, dust bath that is. Now she is ready for a time on the farm now . You go girl.

I meant to write Monday about our first snow view from my sewing table  My stash report, what is up on my wall and the new pincushion I made. So time to waste and I'll just right to it. What's up still on my design wall is  my Hunter Star, half way done with it.  Color is hard to tell because it's a dark  indigo A pile to trim and sew together. Then I made a pincushion I had found on  Riley Blake's blog . Every Friday there will be a new pincushion pattern and so far she has had some cute one and if you are like me you'll have to try one or two. I'm hoping she'll have a turtle pincushion. The example they show is using a sundae dish and looks better using that dish, I used a parfait cup. I did not have enough fabric to do the sundae dish but I was thinking about making this again but in wool using my sundae dish. My stash report is that I used 5.75yds, 5 of it is for the Christmas Quilt along and then some for SKoW project. Di
