Refreshing Fruit Salad

Today I had my friend Mary over for lunch, some stitching and a lot of catching up.  Nothing said summer than a beautiful bowl of fruit.  So I decided to make a fresh, ripe  and refreshing fruit salad.  Then there was the trimmings from making the salad leftover so I figured I would share it with "the girls". Boy, did "the girls" go nuts over it all. They had it all cleaned up in no time, and with this heat, I try to give them a cool or frozen treat everyday. I also made egg salad sandwiches for lunch and I used my egg masher for the first time. It worked really well.     And so cute too   Practical and cute We had a good time and we were able to get a little appliqueing done. We both have been working on the Dresden Plate Quilt. As you can see I have black for center and points and Mary is using a blue print for her center and points. I have six more blocks to get appliqued done and then need to assemble the blocks.

Gas Prices here in Tulsa

Saturday  price  Woo Hoo can you believe it, I am excited because the price of gas is under $3.00. It was 2.99 on Saturday but on the news this morning they just said that it went down again and it's now $2.97 at some stations here in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Boy I would love it to go down more but I would not be surprised thou if this is short lived.  Doing the happy dance

Monday Night

I haven't written in a few days because I have been at my youngest daughter's home visiting and was just too busy to post anything.  You see I had the first two seasons of Downton Abbey with me and that is what we did all weekend, watch them both, 15 hours. I was able to do a lot of knitting while watching. Now we are ready for season 3 to come out on DVDs. You see I hadn't seen these before until now and  I'll tell you, I'm hooked. This is a good series and wish I had been watching it the whole time. Thank goodness for DVDs. I'll soon be caught up for seasons 4 to come on. green beans are doing good  Boy this heat is the pits and by the sounds of it, it's hot all over. I know my garden is sure taking a beating and the gardener here (me) is too. I'm  only up to doing a couple hours in the morning and my garden needs more than that to get it into top shape. I can  get at least one more picking from the green beans and need to also pick the r

Oh My

At the Wichita Show I just fell in love with this one quilt made by Mary Ann Moore. As she wrote in her description that she took her love for cross stitch with her love for quilting and put the two together and boy is it spectacular.  I wish I could of took better pictures, I used my I-Phone and wished I had a nice camera. But I think you can get the idea of how stunning this quilt was. I wished I could of met Mary Ann and ask her the questions racing through my mind.   This picture dose not show half of how pretty it was. Just in case you are interested in the pattern she used you can find the pattern she used at Amazon Hope you like this one as much as I did. Kat =^..^=

Life's Little Pleasures

This is my first Yarn Along  and why I hadn't seen this sooner I just can't figure out. The concept is sharing with others two of some of my favorite things.  I have been sharing what I have made but not too much what I am working on or what I have been reading lately.  So this is my latest knitting project now since I'm finish with the Chicken Hats and the Little Kitty Purse . I decided to start something for me. I'm trying the Color Affection Shawl by Veera Valimaki I saw on Raverly. There were so many beautiful combinations of colors they have pictures of, so I figured I couldn't go wrong. Easy-peasey. . Then as to what I've been reading, it's a book I have on my Kindle, its "The Feast Nearby" by Robin Mather. In the front page of the book is this written by her, "How I lost my job, buried a marriage, and found my way by keeping chickens, foraging, preserving, harvesting, and eating locally (all on forty dollars a week). More Quilts from the Wichita Show

I really do not have to say much other than I enjoy the show a lot and came home inspired. So many lovelies and could not get pictures of them all but I did make a good attempt at it. I do want to say that it was hot and thank goodness the air conditioner was on but it also made the quilts sway and some pictures are slightly blurred. ( If you click on the picture you can view them bigger and in a slide show mode) This won Best of Show This won Best Professional  Machine Quilting \ Till next time Kat =^..^=
