Thank Goodness it's Friday

I have had computer issues for a few years now, nothing major just that I've had to power my laptop by battery and not through direct power. Like my last Dell the power source jack would not stay connected.  So I purchase extra battery and charger, that way I had a battery to use. Nice in theory but it has it's glitches.  The battery use life could be maybe a couple hours, sometimes shorter, depending on the task I'm doing. I could and was living with that...... But The last straw is that Windows want to continually interrupt what I working on to download the new update to Windows 10. That would be fine but seeing how I can't keep it plugged in to download and battery doesn't last long enough. Needless to say it's not getting downloaded, close but not completed. Even though it said 89%, when battery goes dead I lose that installment. Have to start all over. Fed up and bought a new laptop that I'm learning "Windows 10"

Yeah a Finish and Newbie

Yeah A Finish  In my last post I mentioned that crocheted blanket  I started about 3 weeks ago and my goal was to use up all the small leftover balls of yarn I had, and boy do/did have. Unfortunately it didn't take all the balls I had in this plastic container. Did use over half of them tho. Looks like I'll need make another.  Well I started another one this morning. I took it with me to the doctors office because mom had an appointment today.    The crochet  blanket  goes  very fast. It was made with two balls at a time, a light color and a dark color and a large hook. I used a size N/P Bob sure likes to pose for the camera

My Plans for the Week

I had planned out my week yesterday, with high hopes of getting a couple projects finished.  That’s in-between doctor visits. Today is Moms and Thursday it time for "Pete the cat" to get a wellness checkup, he’s 12 years now. With all that  I hope to get the scrap yarn crochet blanket done Right now it’s 82” long and figure maybe another 6” Want it to fit a twin bed.  Wish it had used up all the little balls in the stash box but not quite, don’t think there will be enough for another that size tho. And the other big goal is to finish the the last two borders on the Dreamy Hexagon Making good progress on this border and then all I have left is a plain one.  These blocks end up being 12 1/2 unfinished and to get it that way the squares in the 16 patch were cut 2 5/8 and the outer triangle were from a 6 7/8 square cut in half. Working in eights can be a challenge to make it come out to right size. Normally I to have the unit/blocks sligh

What's Up 3-19-18

I haven't shown what is up on the design wall in a while. Wouldn't of been able to last week because I was redoing it. Before I just had some flannel stapled to the wall I took this picture a while back, before the rearranging of the room Anyhow I used the flannel again, after a good washing and had to get some more to cover the new way.  Which was so much whiter Purchased some foam broads, 4' x 8' sheets which I cut in half. It was easier to handle plus it was the only way I could get it home in the car. Now it covers a whole 8 ft by 8ft Floor to ceiling. Having 4 sections that are 4 x 4 Had to cut out openings for the light switch and one outlet. Not the best of jobs but it works and it should be covered most of the time anyway. So nice to have so much space to use now. And will not have to use tape if the quilt is bigger than the flannel was.  Have up the Dreamy Hexagons working on another one it's borders,

Perfect Sunday

It was a perfect day if you ask me, helped the "Man of the Place" with some cows and a couple hours in the sewing room. But the best part was finishing the binding on the Embroider Baskets.    And was able to get hung up in the living room. Perfect springtime quilt. I just love striped fabric for binding. Pam at Sager Creek did the quilting and again another gorgeous job. Such a sweet pattern. Linking up at Kathys

Fun Night

Tuesday night was our 30’s Club meeting at Sager Creek Quilt Shop and Pam asked if I would do the program this time. Lately I haven’t had to, so this was a nice change. My past program would be on events or people but that stuff is packed away in the garage and really didn’t have time yesterday to prepare a new one. So I thought about what I could do. I have been so out of the loop on new things that I figure I needed to come up with something.  Had an idea I could show the portable design wall I made last year. Here is the link to the original post with all the instructions and supplies needed. Turned out to be a good choice and some said that they planned on making one for their room and other for retreats.  We always have a show and tell and there were a few who brought something.  These are the ones

Slow Sunday

I would have to say that it was a slow day which part of it was dealing with doing our taxes.....fun....fun we're not done but getting there. This afternoon was time to relax and work on a new crochet project seeing how I finish the Ripple Blanket. It turned out very nice and not a bad size 65 x 70, not quite a twin size but it is big enough to lay on the couch and be covered. This is the first of this months goals to be completed. I knew I was close when I decided on a list. This next project is something I had seen a while back and have been wanting to do just because it would be a great way to use up all these small balls of yarn I have. This basket is only about a 1/3 of the the ball stash. Very easy pattern,  using two yarns at a time with a large hook and doing a half double stitch. By the time I got around to writing this I have this much done, going very quickly because of the large hook I'm using. Linking up at Kathys
