Not much today

I wasn't home much today, I had to go pick up a quilt that was ready. Their is a group of hand quilters in Bella Vista Arkansas that did my quilt. I have to take pictures tomorrow to show. Even tho I hand quilt, I just have way more quilts that I want done by hand than I can get to.  Now Bella Vista is about an hour 1/2 from my home and I had a few stops to make also. So you can see why it would take almost all day.  I didn't do any gardening but I did get some sewing in. I almost have this one assembled Than my quilters ADD is flaring up again. I have bought a while back Sew Kind of Wonderful's Quick Curve Ruler and have been wanting to use it but told myself not until I finish some of my unfinished projects. Well they are doing a Twisted Blossom QAL and I can't resist. It's outside my box but I think one of my daughter's will like it. I have collected from my stash a group of teal/turquoise and gray fabric. Now if this is so

A love for IKEA

Well no Friday Finish ... I didn't finish the top like I was hoping to do. I do have all the blocks now completed ready to assemble Here where I live in northeast Oklahoma the closest IKEA to me is in Dallas Texas. And that is approximately a 6 hour drive from here. Being so far I have to admit I have never just gone to Dallas to go to IKEA. But when I drive to California, I make a point of going to the IKEA near my daughters house.  Now my interior design is not considered modern, I like the Arts and Crafts style of the early1900s. But I always fine lots of goodies when I do go to IKEA.  I found some neat things to use in the sewing room.  And some utensils to use in the kitchen. Here are some pictures of what I found and came home with All for the sewing room Kitchen Cool box for newspapers Runner for side board The white containers under the bed, love them... cause they hold some much and fi

A Little Progress

It's the same story, hot and humid. In fact its a little more intense but the weather is to change this weekend and I'm looking forward to spending more than just an hour or two outside. But while I'm stuck inside, I am taking this opportunity to getting a little progress on a few projects. The second Ruby's garden is almost ready to assemble. Lacking just 8 of the smaller outer blocks.  Now by making the center unit in the alternate block lighter sure gives it a different look. I like it but at first I didn't. I liked how the first one turned out but this started to grow on me while I was adding block up on the wall. My plan is to get this one finished tomorrow... making it maybe my Friday Finish. I spent some time today quilting. Was able to watch 2 more episodes of Mr. Selfridge. I was thinking that I probably get more done if I wasn't looking up all the time watching TV. Finished this portion  and this pa

One down, three to go

I have the first of 4, of the Ruby's Gardens done and the fabric picked out for the next one. It has been so stinking hot that I do not dare go outside after I come in from working in the garden. By then I am heated and tired and just want to hibernate inside. I had no intentions to work in the garden this morning seeing how it was near 80 at 7:00, other than watering the new seeds planted but this one bed has been driving me nuts since I've been home.  My garden and that beds looked like this 6 weeks ago before I left  As you can see I had planted cabbage in this bed.  Now my garden looks like a jungle. I made it through only weeding half the bed before I got overheated. I wanted to get it all gone but it was just too hot and this was before 9:00. I just can't work out in this heat like I use to. I had harvested 5 heads cabbage and meant to get to the others before the rain hit last week.   But I put it off and now my cro

It's Monday what's up

sorry it's blurry, not sure why Up on my design wall this morning is the first of the four Rubys Garden quilts  I worked on it a little Saturday and finished all the alternate blocks and now I'm ready to sew them together.... I think it looks really sweet.  This one is going to be for my youngest daughter who loves pink At one time I was auditioning different fabric for the outer border.  But as you can see from the pictures I think I'll go with just the background fabric,... that one looks the best I like to take photos of the quilts on the wall because by looking at a pictures I get a better perspective of how all the colors and fabrics blend together, seeing what works and what doesn't work. My goal for the day is to finish assembling this top and then deciding on which fabrics I will use for the next set of embroidered blocks. Each one will be made from different fabric. Even though it was 75° this morning at  6 AM. I

New quilt

, I'm doing the free BOM  Cozy Afternoon  from Jacquelynne Steves  which she started this month I decide to do mine in embroidery work. I'm going to make it for my mom who is basically disabled cannot get up and about very much so I thought it would be a perfect little lap quilt for her. Now my mom, she taught me how to do embroidery work, she did beautifully embroidery work herself. So I figured in honor of her I would do embroidery. Now I need to decide on color. I thought about the 30's fabrics.... I have such a large collection and they are bright and cheery, I think she would like that. The other thing I'm working on today if prepping my ruby garden blocks that I have embroidered by washing out the markings. Some only need a spray of water and a few needed to soak for a minute Then dry and press them to be ready to be  trimmed up to the proper size I love my Tucker Trimmer, this is the large one It is so eay to line up my wor

Slowing down this evening

After a full day of working outside I am more than ready to spend the evening relaxing and doing some embroidery work.  I am so close to being almost done, I am getting excited. After all these years of off and on working on this project, it looks like I might be able to give these quilts to my 3 girls for Christmas this year.  I am making each one and myself, so a total of 4 times 12 blocks  Thats right 48 blocks, now you know why I am so ready to have this finish. I have just two blocks left, As you can see its December's block. The pattern is Ruby's Garden by Waltzing with Bears from 2007 and I believe that is the same year it was offered as a BOM. I decided to just recieve the pattern without fabric. Chose to pick my own.  Maybe this part can be completed before I go to my daughters for the "Little Dudes" 3rd birthday. A proud Grandma here.
