Whats Up 6.5.17

It has been over a month since I've done a "what's up" on the design wall. I have up the flag quilt and in the process of sewing the rows together. I had been searching more on who the designer of this quilt is. Last week I tried a way to get a hold of her and today I tried another method. Hope to hear back so I can give information on a pattern maybe. But the best part of the day was this morning Bob of Bob's Shop delivered the Pressing Station I order while attending The Springdale Quilt Show in April. I am so pleased with it. Fits perfect on the wall I had been setting up the ironing board with a outlet for my iron and a base to sit the iron on. Besides the pressing surface it has shelving with some containers.  Which I have plans on what to use them for. It took me no time to start adding stuff. Great place for the odd shaped rulers and trimmers. The binder has the Deb Tucker trimmer inside. The Go cu

Junes OMG

I did not make a goal last month with all that went on and April's goal I didn't complete. Retro Air-Ship Propeller This is where it all started ( here ) With that said I am going to extends April to this month and I'm going to add the flag only because I want to have it done in time for the fourth. Should be able to. Linking with Elm Street Quilts

Hodge Podge Day

A lot of times when I do not complete the tasks that is written down in my bullet journal I had hope to have done during the week, I'll try to do them on the weekend. That is why it was such a hodge podge of a day. Did some cleaning and finally hung the turkey platters back up on the wall in the dining room.  I had taken them down to put up Christmas plates, which it's been 6 months...no hurry. You see I was in one of those moods where I wanted to clean and organize. Yesterday I thought I would try to finish the Flag Quilt today ....  and I did do a little sewing, finished all the missing units that were needed.  Maybe tomorrow I'll get it done. I thought I would organize the hexies I'm working on and realize that I had this cute case that I had purchased with fat quarters of Kaye England fabric lying around for a good many years and I'm now finally going to use it.  Wanted some dividers for the hexies when I get them pr

More Hexies

I had finished sewing together the hexies I prepped last week as you can see.  And I thought about prepping out some more but then I thought about it and thought well maybe I can get a die for my accuquilt cutter. I went online and looked at what they had. Had one for a 1 inch hexies where the hexies I'm using are 3/4 inch.  I went ahead and got it because I thought I could either use the smaller one to cut the fabric or just go ahead with the larger size that they use to cut for the 1 inch Hexie.  I tried the smaller one and as you can see but it doesn't leave you much room not even a quarter of an inch around the Hexie.  So went ahead and did a few of the larger ones. Tho it's a little more bulk on the inside of your hexie, I like it a lot better because it with easier to prep the hexie and then I didn't have to worry about not having enough fabric catching when I was sewing them together.  There were times when there wasn

Bye Bye May

I know I have said it before and that is how fast time seems be rushing past me. Here it is the end of May and the first time since the "Little Dudes" have been born that I had missed their birthday. They turned 5 and growing so fast. They will be here for a visit the end of June and will stay for 3 weeks. That will be here before you know it. Even though time is quickly passing, I seem to be so slow at doing things and I thought I would be done with the flag quilt today. But I was able to have all the units made now. It took a little figuring out. Added a piece to a corner of the background fabric. I could not tell from the photo how it was constructed so I needed guess and measure. I think I have it figured out. Right now it a square shape that I added the corner piece to and gives it a zigzag edge but I plan on to trimming off the points when it all together. Part of the reason it has taken a bit longer than I thought it would take is

Memorial Day

In memory of all who gave their lives, we will never forget them and will honor them forever. Yesterday after church and a nap I started working on the flag quilt. Was working on the diamond rectangles when I was about 2/3 done that I ran out of white fabric. Seeing how I didn't have a pattern and was guessing at it all. Started with a yard and third, which is nowhere near enough.  Have a few of the smaller square in a squares completed but still lacking having them all.  Besides needing some for the border, so tomorrow when I go to get my haircut I'll go by JoAnn's and pick up some Kona white. But this is what is now up on the wall I blurred this picture to show how well it looks like a flag Yesterday afternoon "the man of the place" and I walked down to the creek and walked along for a distance. It's amazing what the heavy rains this pass spring has done to the shape of the creek. Where there was rocks
