Spring is Here

By this weekend and it will be in the 70's - 80's
and I'm ready for it. Been cleaning up flower beds and yesterday I picked up some zinnia seeds to plant. Maybe tomorrow, today Mom has an appt. at CHF clinic and usually these appts. are an all day event.

I do hope to get some stitching in while there.
I'll take the Mosaic Diamond (Mom Quilt) with me.

As you can see is that there are two colors here that I decided to use for the outer ring on the diamonds.

I decided to add the cream grunge because on some of the diamonds the fabric would blend in too much with the gray grunge.
In fact I had sewn it on and put them up on the wall and that is when I realize I would change it up.

Do you see what I mean?

Fun part was taking the ones sewn on off, not easy. I was so afraid of accidentally snipping the hexes. Went very slow.

I need to get  pictures soon of all the diamonds I have together.
I started this quilt almost a year ago, it was May of last year when we were in Houston Tx at the M.D. Anderson for mom. Been a long year with a lot of change in my parents health. It has taken a toll on both of them.
We thought Mom's cancer was gone but it's back, smaller than when first spotted so she wants to have it surgically  removed and is schedule for that in a couple weeks. Pray all will go well and that it's not anywhere else

  1. I'm sorry for all you are going through with your parent's health, I have already been through that, I do not know how old your parents are but I wish them well and I hope you can control your stress with your quilting and the farm - daily life chores help I think. I love your hexies - it has been awhile since I had hexies in my hands now and I find I miss them even though I have other EPP going on

Countdown to Autumn. 18 days

After some thought I came up with a general "get to" list for a pre - Autumn preparation. I had mentioned a couple in the last post. I will keep those and have added a few more. I needed to remind myself that a lot of my ideas are a little premature hance the pre autumn and will be better done next month. So here is what I came up with... Deep cleaning is still on Planning activity for next month Decorating inside and out.   Making a fall outfit, sewing and knitting Find some new recipes to try Make a pair of fall or Halloween socks I will be focus on journaling with Autumn being the present subject.  Making sourdough bread again This one I have already started, Watching a cozy, feel good show. So "the man of the place" and are rewatching PBS All Creatures Great and Small. In a matter of a couple days we have watched season 1. I figure we need to refrain ourselves and keep it down to a couple episodes a night. Today I put a binding on another quilt from the pile. ...

How to Make a Portable Design Wall

I had wanted to get a portable design wall to take to retreats but did not want to pay the price. Looked at various pins on pinterest and took ideas from more than one to come up with my verison. It worked out great and only cost a fraction of the price. The PVC pipes, joints and 2 yards of felt cost under $22.00 My design wall is 4' x 4' which stands approximately 5 1/5' tall. For this size need 2 - 10ft length of 3/4" PVC pipe for the frame and 4ft of 1" PVC pipe for the feet Cut the 3/4" PVC into 4 - 4' section                                                                                       2 - 1' section              Cut the 1"  PVC into 4 - 1' section        ...
