Sweet


It's been a long week, so glad all went well.
I was in Tulsa Tuesday thru Friday with Mom and surgery and recovering is all going well.
Being gone to Doctors and Hospital I took handwork with me.

Was able to get some of the Hexes for Winterse Hejxes Mystery


 Working on weeks 6 - 10 now

 

Along with some embroidery works.


 I had started this quilt Winter Wonderland at least 5 years ago with this being the largest section to stitch. I think I have 4 other sections completed.

These were easy projects to carry with me and do.

And any sewing done at home was on Scrappy Nine Patch

It has taken over my room


Mainly the table area of the quilting machine.



I am making good progress


The bag on the left was 3/4 filled with a section for the nine patch and now I have only a small amount witch I put into a smaller bag.


Unfortunately I did not have enough of the cream color fabric, so before I can start assembling the top I had to order some more. Should be here this week.



Last night I finished appliqueing on a Warm Heart block, 



now all that's needed is 7 red berries. 

This morning for some unknown reason I had the impulse to check my basket with the piecework projects I have started.

Started opening up the project bags and put them up on the wall just to a good look and take a picture for reminders.


I had worked on this for a while until my hand started acting up and then this and all the others I had put on the back burner and forgot about


What's left on this are the green leafs.


This  is my attempt at reverse appliqueing. A friend of mine who has been gone for close to 10 years now gave all us in a group this pattern.


I would like to make this the center of a medallion style quilt

Then there is this beauty, started 2010


Pattern was in a Quiltmania #76. I have all the appliqueing done and have been doing embroidery work 



After opening the bag I notice that the floss was not in the bag so I went looking for it. After a couple hours of looking I still couldn't locate the box with all my embroidery stuff.
Has to be buried in the garage somewhere and I'll keep looking.

    love everything you are working on. It is hard sitting around the hospitals isn't is. Glad the surgery went well and that your mom is doing ok, it has been a long battle hasn't it.

    Yes it has, it's been a year now and I know we all have aged during this year.
    Have done a lot during these visits. Thank you for your well wishes and hope this positive outlook lasts for a long while.

    So glad your mother's surgery went well, hope she is continuing to improve. You've got some gorgeous hand work projects in the works. Hopefully you can get back to them soon.

How to Make a Portable Design Wall

I had wanted to get a portable design wall to take to retreats but did not want to pay the price. Looked at various pins on pinterest and took ideas from more than one to come up with my verison. It worked out great and only cost a fraction of the price. The PVC pipes, joints and 2 yards of felt cost under $22.00 My design wall is 4' x 4' which stands approximately 5 1/5' tall. Yarn Along 2/20/13 Spoon Pin Doily

It's snowing here and I know some of you are tired of snow but here we will take the moisture any way we can get it. Plus it just gives me a reason to stay in and work on some of my projects. In this picture I'm not sure if you can make it out but in the background there are some wild turkeys that hang around the house sometime, just  chilling This project I'm working on is Spool Pin Doilies.   I had never heard of them before until Bonnie Hunter had mentioned it on her blog . She a had a viewer send her one for her sewing machine along with a pattern. I did not like the pattern but loved the idea so I decided to make up my own version. I wanted a more simple, smaller and fuller doily. So I tried different thread sizes to get one that I like. (From left to right) I tried sock yarn, which I'll redo because I think I like that look. Heavy weight crochet thread, nope too big Bamboo yarn, I like it. Looks good on my Kenmore. Pearl cott

What's Up

Well that is a big question, what's up Seeing how I haven't posted since before the retreat I went to. So I will show what I did at the retreat and what I have been doing these past few days, which is this Log Cabin Christmas Tree  wall hanging I have the blocks completed and now it just a matter of getting them sewn together. I'll get to that tomorrow. While at the retreat I made this baby quilt top with the disappearing 4-patch block. I had a charm pack and used some "snow" fabric Kaufman snow is one of my favorite whites to use. It's white but not a stark, bright white, goes well with a majority of the fabric I've collected. I started late making my blocks for RCS14 First I wasn't sure what pattern I wanted to make and then with all that was going on the first part of the year, I didn't start until July.
