Today I took a class on how to make a Lemoyne Star using the Rapid Fire Lemoyne Star ruler by Deb Tucker of 180 Designs. And let me tell you it made making a 3 inch star a piece of cake. I so enjoyed making these. I had been worried I was biting off too much. But I can say now I did not.
Sharon (on right) was our instructor and a very good one. I try to take classes here at Sager Creek when Sharon is teaching, she is very good at explaining, so you can easily understand. I don't know about you but I do so much better at learning when I am shown how.
Joan is seriously at work trimming her pieces.
Here we are with our finished blocks. Joan made a 6 inch block and mine are 3 inch blocks.
Are they not cute and you are probably wonder why I am crazy to do 3".
Well I was reading Repro Quilt Lovers Blog about an antique Lemoyne Star quilt, I just thought I had to make this one. Now when you go to her blog you will read that this quilts stars are only
2" - 2.5". I counted how many stars are in this quilt and it is 275. First I figured that I would need the same amount but I started to think about it and my blocks are a little larger so I don't need as many. So now I figure I need 245 stars.
I think this one might be my NewFO's for the month.
Till next time

I have never heard of that ruler. I can make LeMoyne Stars the regular way or similar to the way you did but without a special ruler. You have lots of stars to make. But you can do it over a period of time.
ReplyDeleteI use an "Easy Eight" ruler when I make these but I might have to look into that ruler to see if it is quicker than how I do them now. :)
ReplyDeleteLooks like you all were having a fun instructive time. Love the Star.
ReplyDeleteI like your little star blocks! Have you made all 245 yet? ;)
