Winter Spinach Salad

I was so happy to hear that spinach was the ingredient of choice this week. I have spinach out in the garden still, don't know if you know this but in most places spinach is a great winter crop. It has been a mild winter up until last week so the spinach has been coming along wonderfully, I needed to go pick some.
 Winter Spinach Salad

I can not remember if I had this salad at a restaurant, seen it on TV or read the recipe but I have been making it for a few years now. Being that I came about one of those ways I do not have a written recipe to copy here, what I'll do is just show you what I put in mine and tell you how I make it.

These are the ingredients I used;

1 bunch Spinach
1/2 cup Cranraisin
1 or 2 Oranges, or 3 Tangerine, Mandarin Oranges or "Cuties" (love those when I can get them)
1/3 cup Walnut or Pecan chopped
Red Onion sliced thin,
Honey Mustard Dressing

Clean thoroughly your spinach and tear into bit size pieces, about 8 cups. To that add oranges that are peel and sections pulled apart. Now if using large citrus I will cut the sections in half, bite size.
Add the nuts, Cranraisin and onion slices, I use only a few slices of onion just because I'm not a big onion person. Add them if you like or not, good without them too. Top with dressing and again add as much or little as you like and toss.

  1. I did not know anything could be grown in winter. Oklahoma winters are great compared to Ohio. Thanks for the recipe.

  2. Looks like a recipe that a restaurant would sell a lot of if they had it on the menu! Cheers! Evelyn

How to Make a Portable Design Wall

I had wanted to get a portable design wall to take to retreats but did not want to pay the price. Looked at various pins on pinterest and took ideas from more than one to come up with my verison. It worked out great and only cost a fraction of the price. The PVC pipes, joints and 2 yards of felt cost under $22.00 My design wall is 4' x 4' which stands approximately 5 1/5' tall. For this size need 2 - 10ft length of 3/4" PVC pipe for the frame and 4ft of 1" PVC pipe for the feet Cut the 3/4" PVC into 4 - 4' section                                                                                       2 - 1' section              Cut the 1"  PVC into 4 - 1' section        ...

It's for the Birds

I have a lot of bird related patterns, especially ones that are chickens This quilt I made last year from a pattern in Quiltmania. Then here are a few more patterns I had and thought about doing. But time wasn't on my side for a big project.  You see I'm going to see "the little dudes" next week, it's their first birthday. Blake and Ben, my "little dudes" Can't believe it's been a year already. OK back to topic here.  A couple of years ago while at the Dallas Quilt show I purchased this pincushion.   I thought it was interesting but what I really wanted was the pattern. It came from a shop in Texas,...
