My Simple Woman Daybook For February

The past two days I have been so busy the past couple of days that I didn't have a chance to write this before now.

So here goes.

For Today

Looking out my window and seeing the parking lot of the hair salon I'm at. You see it's time to get my hair done. I have to say I like the view out my home so much better

I am thinking about doing a 5k, walking not running. I was never a runner. Cycling was my thing when younger.

I am thankful for a strong heart yesterday I had a treadmill stress test and all is good. And I have no reason to get out and exercise like I had in the past. The pain in my chest is from another reason. Looking at some sort of indigestion problem.

One of my favorite things is my morning cup of coffee.

I am sewing on Words to Live By quilt. I'm in the home stretch. I will be so pleased when I'm done, it has taken me awhile to get this far.

I am wearing .. Black yoga pants with a black knit sweater. It had cooled down some today. Yesterday it was in the 70's and today the 40's. Go figure.

I am reading is the Hidden Life of Trees.  Since I was young my fondness has always been trees. I love to grow anything but there is nothing more awe inspiring than a tree

I am watching too much MNBC.

I am hoping to go to Ree Drummond Merc tomorrow.

I am learning how to meditate, well more like how to make meditation a part of my life. I have done some but I have come to realize there is so much to it then what I have done. And I'm excited to experience more.

In my kitchen is the addition of a new dishwasher. Right before the holidays the old one decided it was going to stop working. Perfect timing, right. Gone all this time without it and I was fine with that for the most part but seeing how I was going to have surgery and not use my hands that for a brief time, the man of the place didn't want to have to do dishes so he commanded I replace it. That's the kind of command I can tolerate.

In my garden is still just bare ground. I hear it calling me.

  3. It is the little things, isn't it? My hubby gave me a new pair of yoga pants for Xmas and I was surprised because I already had two pairs. When I asked him why, he said I always put them on when I get home from work and obviously needed some more. He also gave me money to buy another 2 pair. Now, I have 5 pair and I don't even do yoga, but I sure love the comfy pants! My doctor also told me I had heartburn for two plus years and she was wrong, my gallbladder was full of stones. As so as it was out, I was perfect!

  4. Mt heartburn was indeed a gallbladder problem that needed surgery. Loving the stunning quilt. I did smile about the dishwasher.

  5. Words to Live By is coming along beautifully! Congrats on being so close to a finish. Hope you find the source of your chest pains. I went through that several years ago and again just recently. Those stress tests are no fun, but it's good that it's not your heart. It's amazing how many other things it can be.

How to Make a Portable Design Wall

I had wanted to get a portable design wall to take to retreats but did not want to pay the price. Looked at various pins on pinterest and took ideas from more than one to come up with my verison. It worked out great and only cost a fraction of the price. The PVC pipes, joints and 2 yards of felt cost under $22.00 My design wall is 4' x 4' which stands approximately 5 1/5' tall. For this size need 2 - 10ft length of 3/4" PVC pipe for the frame and 4ft of 1" PVC pipe for the feet Cut the 3/4" PVC into 4 - 4' section                                                                                       2 - 1' section              Cut the 1"  PVC into 4 - 1' section          The joints you'll need will be 2 - 3/4" elbows 2 - 3/4" T's 2 - 3/4" to 1" T (this will be the base of the Feet) 4 - 1" elbow Also need pipe cutters (this cost me almost as much

Yarn Along 2/20/13 Spoon Pin Doily

It's snowing here and I know some of you are tired of snow but here we will take the moisture any way we can get it. Plus it just gives me a reason to stay in and work on some of my projects. In this picture I'm not sure if you can make it out but in the background there are some wild turkeys that hang around the house sometime, just  chilling This project I'm working on is Spool Pin Doilies.   I had never heard of them before until Bonnie Hunter had mentioned it on her blog . She a had a viewer send her one for her sewing machine along with a pattern. I did not like the pattern but loved the idea so I decided to make up my own version. I wanted a more simple, smaller and fuller doily. So I tried different thread sizes to get one that I like. (From left to right) I tried sock yarn, which I'll redo because I think I like that look. Heavy weight crochet thread, nope too big Bamboo yarn, I like it. Looks good on my Kenmore. Pearl cott
