I spent the day in Tulsa at the Oklahoma Native Plant Society 2017 Indoor Outing. The theme for all speakers was landscaping with native plants.
They spoke on plants that attract wildlife and pollinators.
Oklahoma has a large variety of plant families, 172. And over 2600 plant species.
So today we were shown only a small portion of native plants here but a good idea of what I can plant in my yard.
Now my challenge is to find natives that the deer will not eat. They seem to like most stuff.
While there I picked up a couple new books
A Guide To Oklahoma Wildflowers
and Landscaping for Wildlife.
and Landscaping for Wildlife.
I had a few of the other books they had.
There was some nurseries with plants for sale and exhibitors from Audubon Society, Monarch Watch, Oklahoma Wildlife Dept., Kerr Center and local Master Gardeners.

I was so happy that I was able to go because if I have had the surgery, there would of been no way I could of gone.
And another big surprise was that I met a friend I haven't seen in over a year and fellow quilter, Elsie M.Campbell.
She was telling me that she was working on another book. It's been a few years since she has published one. This one is one of my favorite
Sounds wonderful.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a lot of fun. We've tried to landscape with native and hardy plants. My Guy has been trying to get buffalo grass to grow the last couple of year, the bermuda still tends to take over.
