Lots of Sewing

The past two days have been full of sewing and preparing for future sewing.
Yesterday at Pam's was the monthly Block Buster class. It's a free class where we make a block using one of Deb Tucker's tools. This month it was the V Block..

You see the deal is that the class is free and the block we make is donated to Quilts of Honor.. I think so far we have donated enough for 4 quilts.  The class has becomed so popular that Pam added 3 more class times and they have already filled.

Here are some of the blocks we made yesterday.







Last night I finished appliqueing this block....



Now I'll go on the the friendship blocks I shown the other day.



Today I cut out more Retro Air-Ship Propeller blocks, enough for 16 blocks.



Seeing how I'm doing 2 colorways I did the pink and turquoise 1930's. Next will be the other colorway.

Now for the most exciting part is that Esther over at Esther's Blog has launched her new free BOM, Diamond Hill.
I love her designs and I had started her Love Entwined and will finish it someday but there is so much to that I had felt overwhelmed. 


But I can see myself doing this one and not feel so overwhelmed. It started the 15th and for the next 7 months on the 15th she will have the pattern available, just go to her blog for all the details and colorways.



I have the pattern ready and now its deciding on fabric.

    you have been very productive !! I love Esther's new quilt as well. it is just gorgeous and seems like I might be able to do it. Take care from Iowa

    The class made some beautiful blocks didn't they! What a great way to get blocks together for the quilts too.

    You did get a lot done. Those QOV blocks are fun. The new pattern is gorgeous. It almost makes me want to learn applique. But maybe not. I'll just enjoy watching your version develop.

How to Make a Portable Design Wall

I had wanted to get a portable design wall to take to retreats but did not want to pay the price. Looked at various pins on pinterest and took ideas from more than one to come up with my verison. It worked out great and only cost a fraction of the price. The PVC pipes, joints and 2 yards of felt cost under $22.00 My design wall is 4' x 4' which stands approximately 5 1/5' tall. Yarn Along 2/20/13 Spoon Pin Doily

It's snowing here and I know some of you are tired of snow but here we will take the moisture any way we can get it. Plus it just gives me a reason to stay in and work on some of my projects. In this picture I'm not sure if you can make it out but in the background there are some wild turkeys that hang around the house sometime, just  chilling This project I'm working on is Spool Pin Doilies.   I had never heard of them before until Bonnie Hunter had mentioned it on her blog . She a had a viewer send her one for her sewing machine along with a pattern. I did not like the pattern but loved the idea so I decided to make up my own version. I wanted a more simple, smaller and fuller doily. So I tried different thread sizes to get one that I like. (From left to right) I tried sock yarn, which I'll redo because I think I like that look. Heavy weight crochet thread, nope too big Bamboo yarn, I like it. Looks good on my Kenmore. Pearl cott
