Two in One

I had everything ready for yesterday post, I knew what I wanted to share and even took a couple of pictures but I was just too tired to hassle with it all.
You see Mom had a TEE yesterday, which meant I needed to leave the house before 8 because her test was at 11:00 and figure I would be back sometime before 3:00. She did fine and they were able to do the test but they had such a problem with getting an IV in that it was 3:00 by the time she was done.
That meant I had 5 hours of sitting around waiting.

I did put to good use and was able to finish the corner blocks for the Retro Air-Ship Propeller.

Was so hoping I could get the border finished today but was to busy cleaning after being gone everyday this week, the house was a mess.

Also crochet a couple more little hats and

work a little on my hexes. I do have quite a few done and need to get a picture made to show. And also found the fabric to use between the diamonds. I'll get that all out tomorrow and get some pictures of that too.

Funny how much one can get done while waiting.

Then this afternoon/evening was class and this time it was on insects. Bugs don't bother me that much but I know very little about the bugs that effect my plants. Heaven knows we have a lot bugs around here.

Last week while mowing the yard I would come across all these twigs in the yard that had been chews on, and and completely cuts it off. So I looked up what kind of bug was doing it.

And here is the culprit.

It's a beetle called a Twig Girdler.
If you have seen this happen on your tree, here's a link to more info
Pretty cool isn't it.

Day 14.

How to Make a Portable Design Wall

I had wanted to get a portable design wall to take to retreats but did not want to pay the price. Looked at various pins on pinterest and took ideas from more than one to come up with my verison. It worked out great and only cost a fraction of the price. The PVC pipes, joints and 2 yards of felt cost under $22.00 My design wall is 4' x 4' which stands approximately 5 1/5' tall. For this size need 2 - 10ft length of 3/4" PVC pipe for the frame and 4ft of 1" PVC pipe for the feet Cut the 3/4" PVC into 4 - 4' section                                                                                       2 - 1' section              Cut the 1"  PVC into 4 - 1' section        ...

Countdown to Autumn. 18 days

After some thought I came up with a general "get to" list for a pre - Autumn preparation. I had mentioned a couple in the last post. I will keep those and have added a few more. I needed to remind myself that a lot of my ideas are a little premature hance the pre autumn and will be better done next month. So here is what I came up with... Deep cleaning is still on Planning activity for next month Decorating inside and out.   Making a fall outfit, sewing and knitting Find some new recipes to try Make a pair of fall or Halloween socks I will be focus on journaling with Autumn being the present subject.  Making sourdough bread again This one I have already started, Watching a cozy, feel good show. Yarn Along 2/20/13 Spoon Pin Doily

It's snowing here and I know some of you are tired of snow but here we will take the moisture any way we can get it. Plus it just gives me a reason to stay in and work on some of my projects. In this picture I'm not sure if you can make it out but in the background there are some wild turkeys that hang around the house sometime, just  chilling This project I'm working on is Spool Pin Doilies.   I had never heard of them before until Bonnie Hunter had mentioned it on her blog . She a had a viewer send her one for her sewing machine along with a pattern. I did not like the pattern but loved the idea so I decided to make up my own version. I wanted a more simple, smaller and fuller doily. So I tried different thread sizes to get one that I like. (From left to right) I tried sock yarn, which I'll redo because I think I like that look. Heavy weight crochet thread, nope too big Bamboo yarn, I like it. Looks good on my Kenmore. Pearl c...
