Lovely Beauty

I was going through some pictures I had in one of the folders on my computer. I attend at times these Quilt Study meetings, the group in called MOKA which stands for the 4 states that are participating. Missouri, Oklahoma, Kansas and Arkansas. I have to admit that I love to take pictures of quilts and think oh yea I remember where I saw that quilt.  Ya Right and this is one of them.
I think this is unusual block and I love the shirting used. I can not tell exactly what  it is. Looks like a drums but with antennae or maybe an abstract flower.
If you can tell what it is I would love to know.

The quilting is beautifully done, I'm going to guess somewhere around 10 stitches to an inch and heavily quilted

This is a pieced block not appliqued, exquisite needlework.

I wish I had more details  like the name of the block (looked it up but could not find this block), maker and where or time period thou that could be guess by the fabric. But I still wanted to share this beauty with you.
I 'm loving the pink (double pink)and green (maybe poison). It is hard to tell for sure from the photo, and this photography memory of mine is no help.
Pure eye candy

How to Make a Portable Design Wall

I had wanted to get a portable design wall to take to retreats but did not want to pay the price. Looked at various pins on pinterest and took ideas from more than one to come up with my verison. It worked out great and only cost a fraction of the price. The PVC pipes, joints and 2 yards of felt cost under $22.00 My design wall is 4' x 4' which stands approximately 5 1/5' tall. For this size need 2 - 10ft length of 3/4" PVC pipe for the frame and 4ft of 1" PVC pipe for the feet Cut the 3/4" PVC into 4 - 4' section                                                                                       2 - 1' section              Cut the 1"  PVC into 4 - 1' section        ...

Yarn Along 2/20/13 Spoon Pin Doily

It's snowing here and I know some of you are tired of snow but here we will take the moisture any way we can get it. Plus it just gives me a reason to stay in and work on some of my projects. In this picture I'm not sure if you can make it out but in the background there are some wild turkeys that hang around the house sometime, just  chilling This project I'm working on is Spool Pin Doilies.   I had never heard of them before until Bonnie Hunter had mentioned it on her blog . She a had a viewer send her one for her sewing machine along with a pattern. I did not like the pattern but loved the idea so I decided to make up my own version. I wanted a more simple, smaller and fuller doily. So I tried different thread sizes to get one that I like. (From left to right) I tried sock yarn, which I'll redo because I think I like that look. Heavy weight crochet thread, nope too big Bamboo yarn, I like it. Looks good on my Kenmore. Pearl c...

Countdown to Autumn. 18 days

After some thought I came up with a general "get to" list for a pre - Autumn preparation. I had mentioned a couple in the last post. I will keep those and have added a few more. I needed to remind myself that a lot of my ideas are a little premature hance the pre autumn and will be better done next month. So here is what I came up with... Deep cleaning is still on Planning activity for next month Decorating inside and out.   Making a fall outfit, sewing and knitting Find some new recipes to try Make a pair of fall or Halloween socks I will be focus on journaling with Autumn being the present subject.  Making sourdough bread again This one I have already started, Watching a cozy, feel good show.
