What's up



What's up on my wall is what I was working on yesterday and that is the Thangles buck-a-block from a few years ago. I was trying to decide on which border to use, and decided to go with what I used as the alternate blocks 


But it's a small quilt not very big, 38x52 and I want to make it big enough to at least be used as a lap quilt. So I think what I'm going to do is I'm going to add a small strip a dark brown to break up the border and blocks. I'll make the border 6 inches and the inside strip an inch and a half so that will give me an additional 15 inches around... making it 53x 67. I think that will be doable.



I had thought about using the leftover strip - but I don't believe I will have enough - I haven't measured yet.

Prior to working on this, I decided to take my walk this morning while we were having a gentle summer rain. I haven't deliberately done this in years. 
You know if you ever get a chance and don't have to worry about getting damp try it.... it's a wonderful experience   
I believe I rather get damp from the rain then from humidity. 
It reminded me of something I would've done when I was younger. 

Since I've been home this past week I've had to decide whether I work in the garden early in the morning or take my walk. Working in the garden has won out a majority of the days last week. And I really miss my walk and seeing how the forecast this week is for the next four days a 60% chance of rain, I see myself probably doing this again 

I'm trying to decide what I will next put up on the wall. 


I had finished my embroidery block for Ruby's garden and I could start piecing the alternate block for that 
And I also need to work on this month and last month RSC 15 blocks

      Thank you, I have picked out an assortment of fabric Ruby's Garden. I making 4 and I thought about each one being a little different..just like my daughters.

    I love your quilt. I think your idea for a thin plain border before the wider one is perfect. I think it will really showcase those beautiful blocks. I looking forward to seeing all those embroidered blocks assembled also.

    Oooh! Your quilt is lovely and I just love your blocks for Ruby's Garden. It will be a fun one to watch come together!

    Your sampler quilt is lovely. I had to look closely at as I didn't notice all the blocks were different. I like to use a thin border before the bigger border. It should look great.

    Using a small brown border before the larger print one is a great idea. It will allow the blocks to shine, and they are lovely blocks! Thank you so much for linking up to Main Crush Monday!

    Your quilt is pretty! I checked out your newer posts and the brown border frames those blocks beautifully.

How to Make a Portable Design Wall

I had wanted to get a portable design wall to take to retreats but did not want to pay the price. Looked at various pins on pinterest and took ideas from more than one to come up with my verison. It worked out great and only cost a fraction of the price. The PVC pipes, joints and 2 yards of felt cost under $22.00 My design wall is 4' x 4' which stands approximately 5 1/5' tall. It's for the Birds

WHOO  - WHOO It's my day for 'It's for the birds" blog hop.  Before I start I need to give thanks to our cheerleaders  and If it wasn't for all their hard work this hop would not of happen.  Thank you ladies Now for what you stopped by for.
