This is the latest book I'm listening to. I read about this on another blog and thought it sounded like something I'd like. My dream for years and still is, is to some day hike the Appalachian or Pacific Crest Trail. I just downloaded the first part and I haven't started yet but today while sewing I'll listen.
Book Description
A powerful, blazingly honest memoir: the story of an eleven-hundred-mile solo hike that broke down a young woman reeling from catastrophe “and built her back up again.
At twenty-two, Cheryl Strayed thought she had lost everything. In the wake of her mother’s death, her family scattered and her own marriage was soon destroyed. Four years later, with nothing more to lose, she made the most impulsive decision of her life: to hike the Pacific Crest Trail from the Mojave Desert through California and Oregon to Washington State “and to do it alone. She had no experience as a long-distance hiker, and the trail was little more than an idea, vague and outlandish and full of promise. But it was a promise of piecing back together a life that had come undone.
Strayed faces down rattlesnakes and black bears, intense heat and record snowfalls, and both the beauty and loneliness of the trail. Told with great suspense and style, sparkling with warmth and humor, Wild vividly captures the terrors and pleasures of one young woman forging ahead against all odds on a journey that maddened, strengthened, and ultimately
healed her.

SOCKS
It is one of those projects I found and not completed. I took it to California with me last month. I needed something to work while flying. I do not care for flying that much so I definitely something to do with my hands and I was able to get a lot done, seeing how I had 3 hours between flights both ways.
I had to find on the second sock where to start the yarn so I could get it to match the first sock. I really like it alot when I can do that. It doesn't always work, depends on the yarn and brand
WOO HOO !

ReplyDeleteLovely socks! The book sounds good! I've been on parts of the trail, but what an adventure to do what Cheryl did!
ReplyDeleteI have read Wild - you will really like it. Cheryl is a wonderful writer and while reading this book I kept shaking my head thinking about the fact that this was a true story! An incredible journey; I hope to walk at least part of the Pacific Coast Trail. Enjoy!
